Multi-platform Development Or Which is better? iPhone or Android? (hint, neither...it's Nokia!)
  2. So....Who Am I? Damian Montero - Had a internet Email

19 years ago - Web Developer for 15 years - Got into Mobile App Development in 2003 w/ WM2002 - Know how to speak french.... In russian Multi-platform Development
  3. Should you Develop for the iPhone? - 10,000,000 iPhone +

iPod Touch + IPad -220,000+ Apps that are advertized on TV - $1,000,000,000 Handed out to developers - No Credit Card Required for Apps - In-App Purchases Multi-platform Development
  4. Should you Develop for the Anroid? - More Android Phones

sold than iPhone every month (At least in the US) - 160,000 Android Phones A DAY - Less Competition (Users looking for same kinds of apps) - More access to all the features of the phone. Multi-platform Development
  5. Should you Develop for Blackberry? - Even Steve Jobs agrees.

Blackberry is #1 - Everyone has one and they always will - Less Competition (Users looking for same kinds of apps) - App World NOW makes it easy? Multi-platform Development
  6. Ever heard of Nokia? - Ovi Store is free -

Same as iPhone App store. No Credit card - Apple sold 10,000,000 iPhones in 3 years. Nokia sold 1,000,000 phones in january of this year. - Nokia will: "make smartphones cheap enough for Developing markets" - $20 phones (UNSUBSIDIZED) Multi-platform Development
  7. Develop once. Publish everywhere Same language for all platforms. Different

developers for different tasks, not platforms New platforms take less time. Investment is per project, not per platform. You can win in a platform you didn't think about. Multi-platform Development
  8. Here are SOME of the technologies I found Nitobi's Phone

Gap Appcelerator's Titanium Ansca Mobile's corona Multi-platform Development
  9. Phone Gap PRO Lots of Platforms: - iPhone, Android, Blackbery,

Nokia, Windows Mobile 6.5, WebOS, Nokia WRT, Nokia Maemo, Windows Mobile 7 - Lots of examples and programmers using it. - Free (completely) - Training and support is cheap CON - Documentation is weak. - Some features are only on a few platform Multi-platform Development
  10. Appcelerator's Titanium PRO -All Major Platforms: iPhone OS, Android, Blackberry,

and iPad - Best Documentation and support I've seen with any company - Easy to learn. Mainly Javascript CON - There are free and PAID versions. Paid can be as much as $200 a month! - Does not support Blackberry YET unless you pay - it's javascript but with added changes. Multi-platform Development
  11. Corona PRO - Local Support - Programming is EASY -

Paid version is only $99/year - OpenGL-ES support CON - no pay? no publish code. - Probably not allowed by apple Multi-platform Development
  12. Things to look out for - Won't be able to

do everything - Less support - Might be slow compared to real in platform development - Apple might now allow it. - Your "works everywhere" code might need tuning per platform - The technology you've chosen might not continue and you might be left behind. - Additional cost. Multi-platform Development
  13. Things you WILL have access to - Geolocation (GPS and

other ways) - Accelerometer - Camera - Vibration - Contacts - SqLite - File System IO - SMS - Multitouch - Sounds (Play AND record) - Maps and Google Maps access - Orientation Change. Multi-platform Development
