Transcript

  1. the first day of derby days showed some impressive statistics:

-232 unique visitors at the BU beach -the majority of check- in’s were between 4-6pm, at the time of the tug-of-war Friday, April 20, 12
  2. the BU Dheem dance team, an Indian Classical dance group

on campus, left tips at places they practice and perform. Friday, April 20, 12
  3. BU off-campus council is creating an “off-campus toolkit” list, compiling

venues of realtors, furniture stores, locksmiths, law firms, and more. Friday, April 20, 12
  4. since the semester is ending, many student groups didn’t have

upcoming events. included in the links below is copy that would be produced for foursquare check-in’s at these events. Friday, April 20, 12
  5. many student groups were unresponsive when i reached out to

them via bu.edu/youdo, the bu organization directory. Friday, April 20, 12
  6. after having emails go unanswered, i started reaching out to

my own network of friends in student groups. unfortunately, some of these groups joined as a favor for a friend rather than a genuine interest in foursquare. Friday, April 20, 12
  7. at the end of the semester, many students are distracted

and preoccupied with finals; they’re uninterested in new marketing pushes for their groups this late in the year. Friday, April 20, 12
  8. new positions are elected for academic year or calendar year.

e-board positions are not freshly filled or energized from summer break; many officers relax at the end of the semester to focus on their academics and other priorities. Friday, April 20, 12
  9. by starting a marketing challenge during the last two weeks

of summer, student groups will be preparing to make a splash in the beginning of the year and recruit new members. this is the ideal time to generate more foursquare pages and connections with student groups, as they’ll be revving up their efforts for the year and be more focused on marketing pushes. Friday, April 20, 12
  10. by teaching a skillshare class to the public relations and

media chairs of each organization, i can show and explain the benefits of foursquare for groups to a large group of students. Friday, April 20, 12
  11. a skillshare class would allow students to collaborate on questions,

learn from each other, ask me questions directly, and build their brand pages more independently. more importantly, students can learn how to connect all of their digital platforms together and maintain their foursquare pages just like they do facebook and twitter. Friday, April 20, 12
  12. Derby Days turned out to be a great success for

foursquare on campus. the word of mouth marketing spread throughout campus, outside of just sororities participating in the event. by partnering with more philanthropy and other organizational events on campus, usership will continue to grow and sustain itself at BU. Friday, April 20, 12
  13. by partnering with SAO, foursquare will be more connected with

student groups on campus. if organizations know foursquare is available as a resource, and if they learn about it from the activities office, they’re more likely to be open to joining foursquare. Friday, April 20, 12
  14. foursquare and the student activities office can work together to

promote and support events on campus, whether through prizes with check-in’s, pre-event promotions, and more. Friday, April 20, 12
