Developer Friendly ERP at IIT Kharagpur

IIT Kharagpur has an ERP system that acts as the backbone of several workflows within the institute. This ERP is used by students, professors, people who work in the Establishment, Academic, Finance and several other sections.

The ERP was launched in 2008 and has seen some improvement on the UI front in the past 4 years, when the engineers running the ERP moved from a non-bootstrap setup to a UI that relied heavily on Bootstrap.

This talk focuses on

(a) why is building a Developer Friendly ERP is a goal worth working towards?
(b) what are the additions to the ERP that we think would make it developer friendly?

This talk was presented at the KGP Developers Meet organized on 18th March, 2018. Prof. Pallab Das Gupta, Dean SRIC, Prof A Goswami, Head ERP and Prof. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharya, Deputy Director were present at the event.
