  1. Pre-requisites • Windows 7/8 • Free space to install Ubuntu

    on (30 GB is enough) • External Harddrive for backup (optional) • Internet • 4 GB USB
  2. Step 1 • Download Ubuntu 14.04 LTS • Burn the

    image onto the USB • For Windows, easiest way is with Universal USB Installer
  3. Step 2 (optional) • Backup your Windows installation by going

    in the Backup and Restore section and follow instructions on screen.
  4. Step 3 • Partition your Hard Drive if it does

    not have one already • On Windows go to start menu and type ‘Disk Management’ and hit enter. • Select the disk you want to partition and install Ubuntu and right click it. • Click shrink volume and select the size you want your partition to be. Careful, don’t take too much space away or you may damage your Windows partition.
  5. Step 4 • Restart your computer with your usb plugged

    in. • Get inside of your computer’s BIOS settings by pressing 1 of the following buttons F2, F4, or F12. If this fails, probably your manufacturer uses another button, which you can look up at the internet. • Look for an option that says “Secure Boot” and disable it. - @figueroa_xio • Switch the boot order so your USB boots first than the Hard Drive, save and restart your computer.
  6. Step 5 • Install Ubuntu 14.04 • Follow on screen

    instructions and select the option install alongside with Windows. If you do not see this options please let us know before doing anything else. • Once done, restart your computer again.
  7. Step 6 • Get inside your computer’s BIOS settings again

    and change the boot order so it boots from your Hard Drive again. • Restart and you should see a boot menu allowing you to choose which OS you want to boot.
  8. Step 7 There is no step 7! You are done!

    If you see any problems with your computer with sound, network, display, etc. Let us know ASAP!
