  1. Frankenstein is a mixed documentary Containing the themes of HORROR

    FILM GOD/Creation MARY SHELLEY SCIENCE The documentary followed a LINEAR and SINGLE STRANDED narrative structure Meaning the film was chronologically ordered and all the themes were under the same topic.
  2. Camerawork… The documentary used a lot of extreme long and

    long shots, this was to provide the audience with the full action shot to show better understanding of the play ‘Frankenstein’ Frequently throughout Frankenstein the interviews would follow the codes and conventions of a documentary by the ‘rule of 3rds’ set up. Medium close ups and close up shots are used when interviewing Along with two shot interviews, getting two persons’ involvement
  3. Mise En Scene The background of the interviews makes the

    audience understand more about the theme of the film. Using the skeleton in the background signifies the science and horror theme. Frankenstein also uses everyday people and real locations complying with the codes and conventions of a documentary The clothing of which the interviewees are wearing is casual meaning this interview is casual along with the location being the rehearsal room for the Frankenstein play. Props are also used allowing the interviewee to explain more on the Frankenstein play giving the audience more knowledge
  4. Sound The program contains a male narrator. Also known as

    the “voice of god”. Within the documentary the narrator is shown and used s a voiceover. Sound effects such as lightening strikes are used in Frankenstein to create a spooky era for the audience. Non diegetic of clips are used within Frankenstein linking archive, along with songs and music from Mary Shelley.
  5. Archive A lot of archive is used within Frankenstein. Footage

    from the play and film is constantly used. This allows the audience to see the progression and relevance from the film to a more modern play. Cut aways to various images of Mary Shelley are used within the documentary along with the interviewee talking over the footage linking the audio to visuals.
  6. Graphics The text of the name for each new interviewee

    comes up along the screen, giving details to the audience. The title uses ripped lettering to provide an interest opening to the documentary
