This is my analysis of traits a mixed documentary should include.

  1. Camera For a interview  The shot should or is

    normally a Medium Close‐up.  The subject should be sat either left of right of the shot  The Rule of thirds is used (eye‐line)  During this there should be NO direct mode of address.  The background must be relevant to the documentary or spoken topic. For example shark in the background > General camera work should include  A wide Range of angles. For example birds eye view here >
  2. Sound  Non‐diegetic sound is used‐ this creates a music

    bed normally to provoke an emotion.  Natural sounds can be heard which are common during interviews.  Planned sound effects which are to create a set atmosphere or reaction.  Voice overs.  Simple Cuts. For example fading >  Questions involved in interviews are always edited out  Cut away’s are used so that all the information actually presented is relevant. (also avoids jump cuts) Editing
  3. Footage A documentary is made up of several different footages

    within  Archive footage  Actuality footage  Factual footage  Conflict footage/behaviour  Vov pop  Reconstructed footage  Good exposition  Open title  On screen graphic’s  (Most) are simple – allows viewers to clearly view what's happening.  Relevant titles Graphic’s
