  1. What is your gender? We asked our audience their gender

as we wanted to identify who the majority of the audience was. From the chart we can easily see that more females would be interesting in our program which is a bias answer, however saying this we need to account footage and information that will appeal to both of our female and male audience.
  2. What is your age? We asked our audience their age

so we could involve footage that appeals to all ages of our audience. From our results we understand that it is bias towards a certain age, 16-25, this effects our documentary as we will need it to appeal to our wide target audience, which will include covering aspects that both young and old people will enjoy.
  3. What time in the evening do you watch television? We

asked our audience what time in the evening they watch television, we wanted to find this out so we could see when our audience is in front of the television, as this is when we will put our documentary on. For example only 9 of the people who filled out our questionnaire answered 7-8 so this would be an insignificant time to put our documentary on. Therefor from out results we will put our documentary on between 8 o'clock and 9 o'clock because that is when our audience will be watching television.
  4. What channel do you watch at this time? We asked

our audience what channel they watch at this time so we could decide which channel would be ideal to place out documentary on. Majority of the audience watch channel 4, therefore we will place our documentary on channel 4. 14 of our target audience answered ITV in comparison to the 28 who answered channel 4, being the more popular and secure channel to place our documentary on.
  5. What colours do you associate with toothpaste? We asked what

colours were associate with toothpaste so we could set a colour theme within our documentary. Including the graphics such as the title. Our initial thoughts were that the target audience would choose white, as this has connotation of clean and reinforced cleanliness within the mouth. We were correct in thinking this, as white was chosen by 35 people, followed by blue and red. These colours are the colours within a toothpaste tube, which we agree will work to our favour as the graphic colour theme.
  6. What is your favourite genre of music? We asked our

audience what their favourite genre of music is, so we can use this to our advantage within picking non-diegetic music for our documentary. 14 people within our questionnaire answered pop, which was our highest scoring answer. Therefore we will be using pop music to appeal to what our audience want. However 13 people answered indie, which is a very tight percentage, and could challenge against pop however.
  7. We asked our audience what toothpaste they use, so we

could understand which are the most popular toothpastes within the market and within our target audience, this was so we can include aspects on different toothpastes and feature the benefits and reasons behind buying certain ones. Colgate was the most popular choice of toothpaste within our questionnaire., with 21 people making it there choice of toothpaste. We can also compare why only 11 people use aqua fresh, in comparison to the 21 using Colgate. What toothpaste do you use?
  8. Why do you use this toothpaste? We asked our audience

why they use this toothpaste to see if they believe certain ones held a benefit to them personally, or they have been subscribed it for their personal improvement. From these results we can tell that most people like the taste of their chosen toothpaste brand, and that’s why they have chosen it. the closest answer to this is that people choose toothpaste because they have sensitive teeth, for example sensation tooth paste. it’s obvious from this that people might not know what toothpaste is better for their teeth, so in our documentary we will aim to educate them on what the best toothpaste brand is for looking after your teeth.
  9. How long do you brush your teeth for? We asked

our audience how long they brush there teeth for to see if they follow the guidelines set by the NHS and dentist. From these results we can see that the most popular amount of time to brush your teeth for is two to three minutes, because 63% of our audience chose this answer. This is proven to be common amongst the general population, as the NHS website recommends brushing your teeth for two minutes. throughout our documentary we will ask professionals on their opinions about this matter, and relay this information back to the public. We asked this question so we could place facts against advised times to brush your teeth so we could understand whether the public are following advice times.
  10. How many times a day do you brush your teeth?

We asked our viewers how many times a day they brush there teeth so we can study whether the public follow the advice amount of times, or whether some people, over or under brush. From this graph we can tell that most people brush their teeth 1-2 times a day. this is the most popular choice by 84.7%. the NHS website suggests brushing your teeth twice a day, and we will cover this question during our interviews. we will also cover this with professionals, and ask if they think that you should brush them even more than this. We asked this questioned so we could compare whether the public follow advice within how many time a day they should brush their teeth.
  11. Do you use mouthwash? We asked our audience if they

use mouthwash to see whether they take advantage of extra products on the market to improve the health of there teeth. From this graph we can see that 58.7% of our total audience use mouthwash, with 41.3% saying they don’t. this is quite an even split, and shows the difference in opinion in the audience. developing on from this we may ask why people don’t use mouthwash for example people may find it is too expensive and isn't required to keep the mouth clean and is a extra form of cleansing.
  12. Do you use floss? We asked our audience if they

use floss to see whether they take advantage of extra products on the market to improve the health of there teeth. The results on the graph show that more people don’t use floss than those who do, with 60% saying they don’t use it and 40% saying they do. this is particularly odd seeing as in this day and age people are more concerned in their appearance.
  13. Have you had/got braces? We asked our audience is they

had or have braces so that we can see how many people want to improve the look of there teeth, which is from the impact of the media pressuring the ‘perfect smile’. Here we can see that 58.7% of our audience haven’t had braces, as opposed to 41.3%. from this information we will investigate whether people that haven’t had them either didn’t need them because they took good care of their teeth or if they couldn’t afford them. This may also lead us to studying what the NHS class as ‘bad teeth’.
  14. Do you have any false teeth? We asked our audience

members do they have any false teeth, so that we can further our evidence on the pressure from media. As people would rather have a full set of teeth, than several old and worn teeth. This graph shows that 83% of our audience said they haven’t got any false teeth as opposed to 17% who said that they have. This is possibly because most of our audience is young so wouldn’t be at a stage of needed false teeth.
  15. Please specify the toothbrush brand? We asked our audience to

specify the toothbrush brand so we could see which toothbrushes are most popular within the market, so that we could seek advice from a dentist on whether these are the right toothbrushes, and performing to a good level. We can see that oral b is the main competitor within the market of tooth brushes as majority of the audience answered oral b, however from this we can see that Colgate are the competitor brand within the tooth brush industry. Several answer that ranged from these two main brands, are ‘primarks own’ ‘aqua fresh’ and ‘bruan’. 27/50 peoples answered oral b 17/50 people answered Colgate
  16. Have you ever had a filling? We asked our audience

members if they had ever had a filling so we could look into the study of why people get fillings, how to prevent them and why people suffer from them. From the results I am able to conclude that the majority of the 46 people that filled in our questionnaire have had a filling. by asking our audience this question we now know that within our documentary providing factual information about fillings and the history of them may be relevant to our audience, because having a filling is something which most people have had over time, so therefore our audience members may be interested.
  17. How often do you go to the dentist? We asked

our audience members how often they go to the dentist, to find out whether the advice guidelines of every six months is followed by the public. From our results our audience members go to the dentist every 6 months which on average is the amount of time that you should go. we asked our audience members this question to find out how often they visit the dentist so that there will be some relevance, as in our interviews the expert will be explaining the importance of visiting the dentist regularly.
  18. Are you scared of the dentist? We asked our audience

members if they are scared of the Dentist because we wanted to take further development into people who are scared and find out why. Our results show that the majority of the people who filled in our questionnaire are not scared of the dentist. for the people who said that they are scared of the dentist we asked them to state why they are, from the results it shows that they are “scared of pain” or “in case they take teeth out” or they “never really like going” by asking our audience members if they are scared of the dentist
  19. Are you conscious about your teeth? We asked our target

audience if they are conscious about their teeth because we wanted to find out evidence which reinforces the media’s judgement on the public. The majority of our audience are not conscious about their teeth, this may be because they are older and they have had braces or something done to them when they were younger to make them nicer, or people aren’t really bothered about their teeth. even though the results are close the difference being 2 this can suggest that either the people who said they were conscious about their teeth may be younger and awaiting braces or something to be done to their teeth. or they could be older and their teeth may not be the way they should be for example their teeth may be yellow and have chips or even missing a tooth. we asked our audience this question because our documentary is about teeth and the mouth it becomes relevant.
  20. Are white teeth important? We asked our target audience if

they think that having white teeth is important because we wanted to find out how many people feel pressured by the media to comply for the ‘perfect smile’ and from our results the majority of people think that having white teeth is important. This may be because people have become more obsessed with their appearance and having nice teeth is perhaps a key part. the big difference between the results strongly suggests that having white teeth is very important. we asked our audience this question to get opinions from our target audience. so in our documentary we can illuminate the importance of having white teeth to our audience.
  21. Have you ever had your teeth whitened? we asked our

audience if they have ever had their teeth whitened and if they have if it was by a specialist or a home kit, the results which we received shows that the majority of people have not had their teeth whitened. we asked our audience this question because teeth whitening is to do with the mouth and will feature in our documentary. although the majority said they haven't had their teeth whitened the people that have stated where they had them done. the majority of people had their teeth whitened by a specialist, which is perhaps rather expensive that is why the majority of people have said they have never had their teeth whitened because cost may be an issue.
