expertise - typically a minimum of 3+ years 2. Culture - fast paced, humble, willing to accept critical feedback, creative, excellent communicators Top education and MBA a big plus Role-specific certifications (but don’t list them all on LinkedIn!)
  4. What Will Make You Attractive Considerations: 1. Well-funded /larger tech

company (scale + culture) 2. Fast growing startups (speed+ culture) 3. ...ideally both. Check CBInsights for a huge list. Asia / US Unicorns / Fintech / AI etc. 4. Inhouse preferable to agency 5. Failure + Success 6. Moving closer to hiring city (Seattle, San Fran, New York, Dublin, Hyderabad, etc) - location is important 7. 6. How to Get Your Resume/CV Past the System 1. Don’t

send the same resume for each role. Quality > Quantity 2. A great resume is easy to read and can be scanned within 3 seconds. A good resume and a bad resume. 3. A great resume has : Career progress, numbers, scope/scale, keywords. 4. Get professional feedback on your resume. TopResume/ Carrus.io/ Upwork/ Fiverr 5. What is an ATS? ATS > Screening > Human 6. Use Jobscan.co for all applications and roles to bypass the ATS (show demo)
  7. Direct application vs. agency recruiter Pros • Good recruiter can

get you interview and help prep! • Good recruiter can control speed • Good recruiter can push for you ❏ Direct application more flexible ❏ Direct application less pressure ❏ Direct application can be good prep Choose one! Read more about how to vet a recruiter here. Cons • Bad recruiter waste of time/no prep • Bad recruiter can put pressure • Bad recruiter limited roles ❏ Direct internal recruiter can be slow ❏ Direct internal recruiter not incentivized ❏ Direct not much prep
  8. 1st Interview-2nd Interview: STAR • Recruiter/Hiring manager = Behavioral interviews

and/or resume from start to finish. • Your chance to learn about the role - ask lots of smart questions. Here’s a list for you. • Use the STAR method. Free STAR sheet template and Amazon template. You can use this for any FAANG or behavioral interview.
  9. Do you really understand the business? Flywheels Links: Amazon/ Apple/

    Facebook / Google / Netflix. Source: https://reasonstreet.co/
  10. Final Interviews/Technical/Written • Do 5-10 hours of mock interview practice.

    • Amazon example of what it takes. • You need at least 2 weeks to prep. Don’t push it. • For technical mock interview practice go to algoexpert.io or interviewcake & crack the coding interview • It’s 50/50 skills/culture • For behavioral interview prep for FAANG, go to https://carrus.io/ • Use STAR. • Don’t schedule them all on the same day, it’s torture.
  11. Why Is it so hard to get interview feedback? Recruiters

are busy. Some are lazy. Others just don't want to hurt your feelings. Solution: Ask the hiring manager. Follow up multiple times. Connect with them on LinkedIn and use Inmails. Mock interviews really help to get feedback beforehand.
  12. Moving Forward • If you don’t pass, find out if

it's culture or role-related. • Try for a different role or again in 6-12 months. • Or, plan B, find a non-FAANG job and look for a stepping stone. Why you should apply anyways... • Great practice for the process • Makes you a better interviewee for other roles • Puts you in the system for future roles
