3. What are we doing now? • Robotics- students will be designing a robot that can complete tasks such as using an arm to move a plastic ball. This unit is helping students understand the Mars Curiosity and why robots are needed for exploration. Students will also get to see the importance of engineering.

16. Spring Semester in World Studies Traveling through Europe until Spring Break. After Spring Break, on to Africa & then visiting our neighbors in the Western Hemisphere.

19. To Do At Home • Check over your child’s homework and ask them questions about it. • Ask them if their answer is reasonable. • Have them come in to redo anything below 70%. • Help them learn how to study for a math test.

24. GRAMMAR • Commas – in series, in compound sentences, introductory phrases • Colons – lists, time, letters • Quotations marks & punctuation– in quotes from author book and from reviewers in research • Complex sentences with subordinate conjunctions
25. WEEKLY CLASS STARTERS • Vocabulary study – one word a week; look for in reading; listen for daily • Daily Language – grammar, usage proofreading • Reading Skills Practice – short paragraphs with skills questions
26. READING • Literature Circle Multicultural Novel • Students making choices today; buy in Supply Store in about 3 weeks • Group work – discussions; summaries, character study; plot structure • Reading Reflections in a different format with Literature Circle book

28. Sixth to Seventh Grade • Students met with their counselor, Mrs. Armer during Advisory to find out about 7th grade. • Received elective sheets in Advisory • Sheets are due to advisory teachers Friday, Feb. 6th
