A little crooked cabinet

A sequence for a short film based off of a nursery rhyme I created for an art exhibit back in 2018, titled The Explorer's Room of Encounters. "A little crooked cabinet" tells a tale of a cabinet, a little crooked, not a lot crooked, with an uncanny and sinister twist.

1. ....
2. Now, here’s a small tale...
3. a curious little story...
4. where a gloomy young school boy encounters something quite crooked.
5. [ A Little Crooked Cabinet]
9. As the young boy trudges gloomily down the corridor...
16. ... he happens upon a curious corner.
20. At the end of the hall
21. where light does not fall
22. stood a little crooked cabinet.
23. Where hinges squeak
24. and boards creak
25. stood a little crooked cabinet.
28. Not a lot crooked just a little crooked
29. was the cabinet’s physique.
30. With uneven edges
31. and zero ledges
32. the look was complete.
35. *gulp*
46. “But what’s inside?” You might ask
47. for if you’re not aware
48. just take a look -
51. one look will do -
52. but please try not to glare.
54. ‘Cause if you do
57. you might be screwed
59. for the crooked cabinet has a gaze...
73. A gaze that grows
75. and grows
76. and GROWS ‘till you cannot escape.
78. Under that growing gaze
79. you’ve become the cabinet’s prey.
80. What should you do?
82. To become un-screwed?
83. “Fight back! Run away!” It may be too late to say.
85. If you don’t book it...
108. you may end up crooked
109. and inside the cabinet you’ll stay.
116. But if you attack
123. and swing with a THWACK!
126. You may live another day.
137. So you decide the fate you wish to bide.
140. It really depends on your style.
142. Become an addition
143. to the crooked collection
145. or leave a little crooked pile.
