Mobile App Development: A Layman's Guide

Great ideas come to all of us every once in a while. It is our responsibility to act on them and make the most out of a brainwave. However there are times that you need some outside help. Imagine waking up one early morning and having this great concept for a mobile application. Chances are that you, like me, would know little about the whole process of mobile app development. This little article is to help all you out there just if you are looking to develop a mobile app or are looking for an app development company.

  1. Introduction Grandiose ideas come to all of us. Well most

of us. And to some more than others. Well lets assume YOU do have a simply fantabulous idea for a mobile app (if its some other idea, sorry can't help you there). You can see the fame and money at the end but just don't know how to make it there. No fear, for I am here! Your Knight in shining armor.
  2. 1. Define Goal/Concept This is where you work on that

brainwave you had to actually give it life. Define your end product, know what you want and figure out how you’re gonna get there.
  3. 2. Draw up some sketches Of course you have an

idea of how you want your app to look. It is yours after all. So get out that pencil & paper and start drawing some sketches.
  4. 3. Research Now not to burst your bubble or something

but chances are people have had similar app ideas before. However chances are that they did not capitalise from it or you’d have heard of it. So READ UP and learn from their mistakes. P.S. Doesn’t hurt to get a few ideas from them either
  5. 4. Create a Prototype Now it is time you hired

a team of expert app developers to start building your app. Once a prototype has been completed ask your friends & family to use it and gain their feed back. This will prove useful as they would think like the average user would.
  6. 5. Build Backend This is not something you should bother

yourself with. That expert team that you hired, they would probably be working on this stage about now. However it is good to know the progress of the development so they don’t con you.
  7. 7. Final Testing & Release And you’re almost done now.

This is where the final testing and any bugs discovered will be fixed. Once all the issues have been fixed all that remains is for the app to be released onto the respective app stores for Android/iOS. This can be done by yourself or with the help of the developers.
  8. 8. App Marketing Developing and Release of App is only

half the story. Now you need downloads to make money! •Social Media •Press Releases •Advertisements •Websites are all good marketing strategies.
