Space Jam: A New Legacy - “Practice Montage” (Part One”)

Working on "Space Jam: A New Legacy" afforded me the opportunity to utilize my fifty years experience of absorbing Warner Bros. cartoons, and to capitalize on our collective familiarity with these classic characters. This unscripted sequence aboard Marvin the Martian's ship was presented to me as a funny montage where LeBron James and the Looney Tunes freak out as the floor suddenly drops out from below their feet, causing them to hurl rapidly down a never ending chasm towards the bowels of the ship. Our Head of Story Alex Orrelle and Animation Director Spike Brandt wanted me to come up with a bunch of falling gags, and they would pick the best ones. This assignment was a labor of love for the eight year old in me, and I tried to include each Looney Tune character (including Pepe Le Pew, who ultimately was cut from the film altogether).
