Summary: What happens to our digital identity when we die? Far into the future, humans have mostly abandoned the real world for the virtual game world of "Placeholder". But when people die in the real world, their digital avatars become dormant.
However, a virus has gone rampant, possessing the avatars of the deceased for their own agenda. It's up to digital assassins to delete these possessed avatars, whether they were formally friends or foe.
