Some of the best logo designs of our time have hidden symbols in them if you look closely. In this file I have compiled a list of brands with hidden graphics and what kind of signals do they send to the viewer!
beginning of time, man has communicated through symbols; the ancient hieroglyphs of the Mayans and Egyptians are proof about the importance of symbology and their beliefs that symbols hold power. What was true before is still true in this modern day and age. Today everywhere we go, we see symbols; on our bank notes, on the facades of buildings etc. the importance of symbols and logos cannot be denied; today a logo design depicts the company it stands for. A good logo is one which is memorable, timeless and which gives the essence of the brand’s story. There are many logo designs which have symbols hidden within them and which convey subliminal messages. Some of those symbols are discussed below: 1) Amazon: Amazon.com is the most famous online shopping store that exists today. At first glance its symbol looks deceptively simple, but if you look at it closely you will see that a) the orange arrow is shaped like a smile guaranteeing customer satisfaction and b) is pointing from a to z meaning they sell everything. Pretty neat, huh? 2) Tour De France: Its logo just looks like a stylized version of its name with a yellow ball. But look closely at the letters ‘o’, ‘u’ ‘r’ and the yellow ball and you’ll see that it’s actually a picture of a cyclist! That’s what I call a creative logo design. 3) SUN Microsystems: I never particularly liked this logo design; until I saw the hidden graphics in it. Take a closer look and you’ll see that all these curvy lines make up the word ‘sun’ in all directions. Now it is one of my favorite logos of all time! 4) Hanuet Wine: It looks like stylized ‘H’ but look between the two verticals lines that make up the letter and you will see two wine glasses creatively inserted in the middle of the logo; so every time you see this H, you will immediately be reminded of the wine business! 5) Families: A Reader’s Digest publication, the fourth, fifth and sixth letters represent a family of three! 6) Formula 1: The single-seating auto racing’s famous logo contains a hidden number one in the negative space between its two letters! 7) Hershey’s Kisses: One of my favorite brand of chocolate, Hershey’s Kisses always look a bit onion-shaped to me. However it’s the shape of its logo that really intrigues me; the negative space between the first two letters of the chocolate’s name is shaped like the chocolate! 8) Baskin Robbins: Not only the world famous ice cream has a bright and cheery logo but it also serves to remind all its customer in pink, that it serves 31 flavors.
forward looking peacock which both depicts the channels forward approach as well as serves as a reminder that the owner of NBC was a colored TV manufacturer! 10) Sony VAIO: The symbol of Sony’s laptop depicts the analog and digital technology. The VA is in the shape of an analog wave and 1O represents the binary digits of 0 and 1 Terence Brown is a professional logo designer with hundreds of successful logos to his name.
