2. We will begin with a tutorial and end with a quiz to test your knowledge on the subject. The passing grade for this tutorial is 80%. 3. Bed Protection A vehicle purchase is usually the second largest purchase a person will buy in their lifetime, right behind a home. When someone makes that size of purchase, they want to protect it. When it is a pick-up truck that is purchased, the truck bed needs the most protection. Consider all the items a truck bed carries: furniture, logs, tools, rocks and many other items that easily can dent or scratch a truck bed.
4. Bed Protection Before we begin, it is important to remember that depending upon the pick up truck, there are different truck bed sizes. GM offers bed protection in all bed sizes: 1. Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyons 5’2” & 6’ beds 2. Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierras 5’8”, 6’6” & 8’ beds
5. Bed Protection With all GM truck bed protection products, GM offers customers the GM warranty of 3 Years/36,000 miles when purchased at the time of the new vehicle purchase. If the product is purchased after the new vehicle purchase (or for a used vehicle), the warranty is the balance of the new truck warranty, but never less than 12 months/12,000 miles. In some cases, such as the Bed Mat by Bed Rug, the manufacturer warranties the accessory even though it carries a GM part number and is counted towards a dealerships and ADI’s sales objective.

11. Bed Protection Bedliner Highlights for TSMs 1. Bedliners are difficult for anyone to supply to a dealership, so your ADI’s delivery service gives you an advantage over competitors. 2. Because each ADIs sells bedliners at different prices due to receiving bulk discounts, GM credits all bedliner sales at $228.75, regardless of what the actual selling price is. a. This “bedliner bump” (the difference between selling price and $228.75) can be of great assistance when attempting to get dealers over 100% of their objective, which goes toward Dealer Engagement. 3. Used Vehicle Sales departments generally see a sizable increase in the selling price of a used truck with a scratched truck bed after installing a bedliner.

Every Chevrolet and GMC dealership sells some form of bed protection to their customers…or their competitors do. 3. Bed protection is offered as a LPO a. Example – Silverado LPO bedliner code – VZX 4. Bed protection (especially bedliners) is considered a “foundation” product for ADIs. If an ADI does not capture this segment of the business from dealerships, it is difficult to truly develop a GM Accessory selling process in the dealership.
