a part of art since the beginning of human artistic expression. The purpose of portraiture has changed over time due to technological advances and societal changes. Though its purpose has changed, the portrait remains an integral part of art. This exhibition explores notions of the portrait from commemoration of a young activist in the work of Angel Price to 3D exploration of internal emotion in the work of Ha Lim Lee. We have also included some more personal portraits that explore themes closer to the artists themselves through Stephanie Traplin’s self portrait and Paige Godin’s charcoal portrait exploring the online persona. All of these works are tied by their visual representation and exploration of the human figure and human experience. We hope you enjoy our diverse selection of dynamic and varied expressions of the “Person in the Portrait”.
