Leveraging Volumetric Capture For Digital Arts, Culture & Heritage
Here are my session slides for the Metaverse 2.0 event. I shared how we can leverage volumetric capture technology for digital arts, culture and heritage digitization and the creation of immersive experiences.

object, or place into 3D digital data and reproduces it as a high-quality image. This type of free-viewpoint video technology captures the entire natural world and allows it to be viewed from any viewpoint. "Volumetric capture" refers to recording a physical place, object, person, or even event in a way that makes it appear to take up three-dimensional space. In the case of a recording of an object or person, this allows a viewer to rotate or move around the end experience. However, unlike other 3D systems, volumetric capture can create spatial models of moving objects and people in real-time.
a whole bunch of cameras from a whole bunch of different angles that are all filming at the same time. Then, computer algorithms stitch the views from these angles together to create volumetric images. Microsoft's Mixed Reality Capture Studio, one of the biggest players in volumetric capture. Volumetric capture and photogrammetry use images from cameras and sensors to create 3D meshes, which can be merged seamlessly into game engines, VR headsets, AR environments, and merged-reality (MR) worlds for a deep psychological influence on users. Anywhere you would traditionally use a computer-generated (CG) asset is a great place to use a volumetric object for increased immersion.

Lagos Nigeria. The museum was founded by Prince Yemisi Shyllon who presented a proposal to PAU for the creation of a museum hosting works from his collection. Prince Shyllon generously agreed to give 1,000 artworks from his huge collection to the museum and committed himself to donate a substantial amount of money towards the construction of the museum building and its long-term sustainability.
