with Purpose (2026SP) Venessa Clark February 13th 2026
  2. 2 Proposal I am interested in many industries within Freelance

Illustration, including patterns, packaging, surface design, book covers exspecdially horror or childrens liturature, other entertainment, like movie and music posters, games, dolls, merchandising, signs, and murals. I'm interested in these industries because they are the producers of media and products that I enjoy and feel confident in. There is a lot of opportunity for play, whimsy, curiosity, humor, and joy in making illustrations for these industries. I also want to work with local businesses and organizations that benefit the arts and youth of sf/ the Bay Area. I need a wide range of illustration content to show all my capabilities and what media I enjoy creating. Illustrations focusing on food, character design for children's books, patterns/ surface designs, posters, signs for business, typography, landscapes and backgrounds, miniatures, portraits, sketch book work. Work I've done for academy of Science, Portero View, and prints. In my artist statement, I'll need to include my artistic goals, my intent/ subject matter, my medium, my personal identity, and how it influences my work, my inspirations, my process, where I'm based, and where I'm from. My education and any gallery experience. Some challenges I anticipate are having minimal experience with showing my work in galleries, and balancing my personality and perohesanilsm in my writing. Defining why I make what I make. Steps to complete my creative works portfolio: Narrow down which of my works I want to present to emphasize the ideas I'm trying to communicate and what kind of works im capabale of and want to be making. This will be pretty simple to do, I will review my archives and my website within the next week. For my artist's statement, I have drafted up a sample. I will make a
  3. 3 longer, around 500-word, and a more condensed 100-200-word statement

to be used for different situations. I am also planning on revising my artist's biography.
