Women in South African Astronomy

Women in South African Astronomy

n honour of National Women’s day, Dr. Steve Crawford will present some of the wide range of astronomical research that are being lead by women in and from South Africa. These include explorations of our very own solar system to studies of the largest scale structures in the Universe. From innovative observations being made at the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) and future ground-breaking studies with the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) to theoretical modelling of the structures of our Universe over a vast scale, women are making critical contributions to our understanding of the Universe. During this talk, we shall celebrate the contributions of women in South African astronomy.
