  5. Slide 8 Results suggest agreement and trust – The preponderance

of league chatter is dedicated to rules and trades – On rules: The four most debated topics in 2013 are those which have the highest ‘favorable’ response rate, suggesting the rules in place are appropriate. Dissent comes from a vocal minority  The two lesser favorable rules, though still majority favorable, should be investigated for improvement – On trades: Owners self-identify as 92% honest and 70% selfless when delivering trade advice. This seems disproportionately high relative to the gamesmanship taking place (particularly over gchat and email). It would have been interesting to ask “how would you identify the majority of other’s advice?” A likely lower altruism(%) would have appeared – No two owners respond with the same set of answers. Respondents are all close to the composite profile, but the points of disagreement are unique by owner. This uniqueness insulates the league from a ‘slated’ agenda cross-issue – Similar couplings: FD&JE (closest). DP&MM. JW&SP. MU&EP&AZ – SJ, JG and BP do not have close analogs – The survey did not inquire about gamesmanship of the rules nor about the interest in / sentiment for doing so. Based on these results, gamesmanship is likely not tolerated by the majority of owners who elect not to ‘work the gray areas’ – All of this subordinates a notion that Frike’s rules are better suited than league constituents lend credit. Even those most controversial are generally favorable. We should invest in engagement to keep interest up in the season and year over year
  6. Slide 10 SURVEY QUESTIONS As a manager, my overall goal

each season is to: (please rate the responses 1 through 7, where 1 is the highest priority and 7 is the lowest) • Win the championship • Win my division • Make the playoffs • Have the best keepers • Win as many weeks as possible • Have the best team • Make the best/most trades Every season is a balancing act, as is the nature of sports and the fantasy leagues which follow them. As an owner, when you are presented with a choice between winning this week, potentially at the expense of longer-term goals (i.e. beating Team A this week would likely mean having to play a stronger team in the playoffs) or sacrificing this week in favor of longer-term goals (like losing this week to improve playoff matchup), you would choose: • I would knowingly sacrifice this week for the potential of longer-term goals • I would knowingly compete this week, even at the expense of longer-term goals • I would knowingly commit to neither, managing my roster with no change from normal course • I doubt I would notice Q2 Q3 When other managers ask for your opinion on trades, in what ways do you respond and how often? • Without self-interest, honestly (give an opinion regardless of impact to your team) • With Self-interest, honestly (i.e. offer an alternative deal to benefit your roster) • Without self-interest, Dishonestly (just fuck with someone / keep them guessing) • With self-interest, dishonestly (lie to positively impact own team at expense of inquiring manager) • Abstain when asked Favorable or Unfavorable? 1. After the league's trade deadline expires, managers can use the waiver wire to make moves. 2. Players from other countries (Japan, Cuba, etc) can only be added to Frike rosters via the Frike draft during their first major league season (they are not eligible for waiver claims during the season). 3. DL players returning to the MLB rosters must be added to Frike active/reserve roster on the Monday following their addition. 4. Minor league players promoted to the bigs must be added to Frike active/reserve roster on the Monday following their return. 5. During the extended Frike week (all-star week in MLB) managers must follow standard add/drop rules. 6. This year, the 6th round of the Frike draft was conducted 'secretly' and only the players who were draft (i.e. not the teams who drafted them) were revealed.
