  1. What is a Set? A set is a collection of

items called elements. The rules of 8-ball divide the set of billiard Balls into 3 subsets 1. Solids (1-7) 2. Stripes (9-15), and 3. The 8 ball Subset: It is a set whose elements all belong to another set. www.mindvis.in
  2. Representing a Set Roster notation, in which the elements of

    a set are listed between braces { }. www.mindvis.in
  3. Finite & Infinite Sets A set can be finite when

it has a definite, finite number of elements. A set can be infinite when it has an unlimited, or infinite number of elements. www.mindvis.in
  4. Interval notation Mostly used for infinite sets. The set of

real numbers between 3 and 5, can be represented on a number line or by an inequality. www.mindvis.in
  5. Finite & Infinite Sets Interval is the set of all

number between two endpoints, such as 3 and 5. In interval notation the symbols [ and ] are used to include an endpoint in an interval, and symbols ( and ) are used to exclude an endpoint from an interval. www.mindvis.in
  6. Set-builder notation Set-builder notation uses the properties of the elements

in the set to define the set. Inequalities and the element symbol are often used in set-builder notation. www.mindvis.in
