OUR PAST
Channels VUMI
Channels get a UI ... the only application was bulk
sends and replies ... but more were hacked together rapidly ... and there was still more demand for different things! VUMI GO
Developers loved it! ... but it was less great for
non-developers JAVASCRIPT SANDBOX
DIALOGUES It is pretty cool ... but visibility was still
not great ... and spaghetti was everywhere
WHAT OTHERS WERE DOING WHILE WE BUILT VUMI GO
RAPIDPRO / TEXTIT They saw Vumi Go ... and decided
to make their own dialogues!
WHAT RAPIDPRO GOT RIGHT: Focus Process UX
WHAT RAPIDPRO GOT WRONG: No USSD They still have spaghetti
Much less flexibility for developers
VOTO MOBILE Voice Decision trees
TWILIO FOUNDATION
OUR FUTURE
LANDSCAPE Stealing from RapidPro: Focus, Process, UX. Our strengths: USSD,
developer tools. New ideas: Local installs, shared services.
NUMI Stories rather than spaghetti ... bridge between developers and
service designers ... deprecating some of the SoW process
JUNEBUG Just channels ... for developers ... but hopefully getting
a simple UI for testing and QA
