Something about Finland for a class of Czech IT students

My presentation about my Erasmus country I was supposed to prepare for an English final exam in front of a class of Czech IT students. It is not as good as the original famous presentation about Czech Republic is, because I hadn't so much time for preparation, but it's at least more funny ;)

What about a little chat? • Two official languages, Swedish and Finnish • Finnish is gramatically similar to Hungarian, but nothing more • No way to understand a single word (what the hell is Ruotsi?) • Even older people can speak English quite well • You can read every single Finnish word right now • KARHU, OLUT, HEI, TERVE, MITÄ KUULUU, LONKERO, RAKASTAN SINUA, KIITOS, OLE HYVÄ, HYVÄ, JOO/KYLLÄ, EI, KAHVILA, ANTEEKSI • Hyvää syntymäpäivää!
6. ...WHAT DOES “SAUNA” MEANS? • Everywhere, in every flat, every house, every swimming pool, ... • Free of charge • Something more spiritual than sexual • Healthy • Just GREAT in winter • Have you ever been standing outside 5 minutes just with a towel in -20°C?
7. Thirsty right after sauna? • MILK • ALKO, prohibition • Beer (Karhu, Karjala, Olvi, Lapin Kulta, …), Czech beer • Vodka (Koskenkorva, Finlandia, …) • Long drink (lonkero), Gin, coctails • One beer in pub = 5 € • Recycling cans
8. After sauna you feel the spirit...! • Lutheran Church of Finland, 80 % of people, about 4 % really visit the church • Hockey, skiing, cars • Kimi Räikkönen, Mika Häkkinen, Saku Koivu, Jari Kurri, Teemu Selänne, …
9. Hm. But sauna is not enough to get spiritual balance! • Finland loves metal, you can hear it even in a sweetshop • A world's metal capital • You may know (not only metal): Apocalyptica, Bomfunk MC's (freestylaaa!), Celesty, Darude, Finntroll, HIM, Loituma, Nightwish, The Rasmus, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Tarja, Värttinä, Waltari, ... • Finns are the world's heaviest coffee (kahvi), drinkers, avg. one inhabitant drinks 3-4 cups per day • The suicide stats are just a silly stereotype: Nowadays around 18 out of 100,000 people commit suicide each year in Finland, about the same level as in France and Austria.
