  4. Implementation plan  The report on barriers hampering the use

    of SSM practices has been prepared;  Review of the adopted national programs, legislation and projects towards mainstreaming of SSM/SLM approach and technologies in the EASP region are conducted;  Analysis of the role and contributions of responsible institutions to support of soil restoration and long-term INRM/SLM programs and SSM actions has been provided; The test sites for successful SSM practice demonstration have been chosen in Uzbekistan (in cooperation with ICARDA) Pillar 1: Promote sustainable management of soil resources for soil protection, conservation and sustainable productivity
  5.  The main recommendations of VGSSM highlighted in the EASP

    RIP are being implemented : • minimize soil erosion, soil sealing, enhance SOM content , soil biodiversity and foster soil nutrient balance and cycles • prevent, minimize and mitigate soil salinization and alkalinization, soil contamination and acidification and improve soil water management  There has been significant progress in enhancing cooperation and links with ESP in capacity building for SSM/SLM, knowledge management and resource diversification to facilitate the effective implementation of the EASP IP and to ensure achievements of the UNCCD LDN goals and resource mobilization.   10. Regional INRM/SLM programs and projects to support of EASP RIP

    implementation The World Bank - supported ECFS project on « Taking Stock of Human Capital in Soil Science for Central Asia and the South Caucasus (2018) Objective: to assess the status of human capital in soil science within Central Asian and the South Caucasus that are essential for the delivery of soil health in support of productive and profitable agriculture as one of the pillars of social stability and food security. The project aims: to carry out soil research and knowledge sharing activities for building capacities and improve understanding of how human capital in soil science systems respond to soil degradation, changes in management and climate, and development of a set of recommendations to highlight future soils education, research and dissemination.

The book Sustainable Management of Soil Resources in the Eurasian Region is under preparation The textbook on SLM for higher education programs in the agrarian universities is under preparation (in cooperation with ICARDA) 30 September - 5 October 2019, Chişinău, Moldova

  19. Plan implementation  National data centers has been established in

    Russia (3), Moldova (1), Belorussia (1) and in Azerbaijan (under preparation). A general agreement on the form of storage and exchange of data was reached;  The general object model of soil data description formed according to uniform standards (USSR) and similar state management (Ministry of Agriculture) and educational institutions, serves as a bridge between EASP partners;  Technical support of the EASP countries (transfer of software and adjustment of systems, data conversion, and the Information Exchange experiments, etc) is carried out within region, etc. Pillar 4. Enhance the quantity and quality of soil data and information: data collection (generation), analysis, validation, reporting, monitoring and integration with other disciplines Eurasian soil information system (EASIS) is established and integrated with unified methodology and software
  20. Plan implementation  Capacity development on digital soil mapping, soil

    salinity management and soil organic carbon mapping implemented under coordination of the GSP and EASP Secretariats  The «Handbook on soil salinity management» was developed for building capacity of target groups and partners on soil salinity management and reclamation of salt affected soils (2017)  In September 2017, the Soil Salinity Management training was performed in Kharkiv, Ukraine.  Training workshops on the Eurasian soil information system, Moscow, Russia, etc. Pillar 4.
  21. GSOCmap-Capacity Building Development a Global Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) Maps

    based on existing national soil carbon data to build the Global Soil Information System under GSP Pillar 4: Plan implementation  GSP SOC Mapping and 2nd Regional Workshop of the International Network of Soil Information Institutions (INSII), November, 2016  a 3-week training session of the FAO/GSP in developing national SOC maps and other activities. Pillar 4.

  23. Plan implementation The EASP countries are carry out in the

    harmonization of terminology, standards and protocols around the world; EASP SEC specialists were trained at a GLP workshop on the harmonization of these soil laboratories (GLASOLAN) in Rome from October 31 to November 2, 2017 to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, skills and capacity building of EASP institutions. Pillar 5. Harmonization of methods, measurements and indicators for the sustainable management and protection of soil resources.
