implementation The World Bank - supported ECFS project on Taking Stock of Human Capital in Soil Science for Central Asia and the South Caucasus (2018) Objective: to assess the status of human capital in soil science within Central Asian and the South Caucasus that are essential for the delivery of soil health in support of productive and profitable agriculture as one of the pillars of social stability and food security. IRNM project is the establishment of a Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) monitoring system. In 2018 had finished the establishment of the Coordination Council for Combating Land Degradation and Desertification via Decree of Ukrainian Government. From 2018 Global Environment Facility (GEF) and FAO started large soil project “Integrated Natural Resources Management in Degraded Landscapes in the Forest-Steppe and Steppe Zones of Ukraine” (IRNM). the knowledge of soil • The book Sustainable Management of Soil Resources in the Eurasian Region is under preparation • The textbook on SLM for higher education programs in the agrarian universities is under preparation (in cooperation with ICARDA) • Four Small Research Projects on Soil Salinity will published in Eurasian Soil Science Journal (2019) • NSC ISSAR in collaboration with GSP Secretariat has prepared the official translation into Ukrainian language the “Voluntary Guidelines for Sustainable Soil Management”(VGSSM). Ukrainian edition of VGSSM will be published under financial support of NSC ISSAR and IRNM FAO/GEF Project and will be posted in the public domain on the Internet.
