3. Regional INRM/SLM programs and projects to support of EASP RIP implementation The World Bank - supported ECFS project on Taking Stock of Human Capital in Soil Science for Central Asia and the South Caucasus (2018) Objective: to assess the status of human capital in soil science within Central Asian and the South Caucasus that are essential for the delivery of soil health in support of productive and profitable agriculture as one of the pillars of social stability and food security. The project aims: to carry out soil research and knowledge sharing activities for building capacities and improve understanding of how human capital in soil science systems respond to soil degradation, changes in management and climate, and development of a set of recommendations to highlight future soils education, research and dissemination. https://ecfs.msu.ru/images/publications/CA_SC_report_WEB.pdf Plenary assembly of the EASP, Chisinau, October, 2019
4. • The aim of the Project is that management of soil resources under agricultural infrastructure services and strengthening of related information system infrastructure • Under the Project a National Soil Management Action Plan has been being prepared • In addition, under establishment of national soil information system, a national action plan has been being prepared to increase coordination with related institutions in the Ministry and to provide data flow. “Strengthening Agricultural Infrastructure Services with the Context of Global Soil Partnership” Project under FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme (March 2018). 5. Some events in Ukraine One of the main objectives of IRNM project is the establishment of a Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) monitoring system. In 2018 had finished the establishment of the Coordination Council for Combating Land Degradation and Desertification via Decree of Ukrainian Government. From 2018 Global Environment Facility (GEF) and FAO started large soil project “Integrated Natural Resources Management in Degraded Landscapes in the Forest-Steppe and Steppe Zones of Ukraine” (IRNM). In 2019 at the initiative of the FAO/GEF project in Ukraine, the process of forming the Ukrainian Soil Partnership has launched. Plenary assembly of the EASP, Chisinau, October, 2019

10. Plenary assembly of the EASP, Chisinau, October, 2019 National Scientific Center «Institute for Soil Science and Agrochemistry Research named after O.N. Sokolovsky» Ukraine (NSC ISSAR) provided the International Scientific practical workshop for farmers: "Kharkiv Field Day: Potential and Methods of No-burn Agricultural Practices» (March, 2019). Advertising materials (books, brochures, posters, calendars, cartoons) were prepared promoting the knowledge of soil • The book Sustainable Management of Soil Resources in the Eurasian Region is under preparation • The textbook on SLM for higher education programs in the agrarian universities is under preparation (in cooperation with ICARDA) • Four Small Research Projects on Soil Salinity will published in Eurasian Soil Science Journal (2019) • NSC ISSAR in collaboration with GSP Secretariat has prepared the official translation into Ukrainian language the “Voluntary Guidelines for Sustainable Soil Management”(VGSSM). Ukrainian edition of VGSSM will be published under financial support of NSC ISSAR and IRNM FAO/GEF Project and will be posted in the public domain on the Internet.
