5. How it starts • A new stack is near free to install • Usually solves a short term problem • Insourced system, outsourced code • Don’t understand the stack
6. How it ends • Mostly in late night pages and tears • Overloaded use cases • Deep dependencies in your system • Forced upgrades
7. Consider the FULL cost If you build it, someone will use it. If they use it, you have to maintain it. If you have to maintain it, you have to budget people, hardware, and time.
