Basing on personal experience of running Women Techmakers community over 4 years and coordinating WTM initiatives in Ukraine, I would like to share how we support diversity in our country and Google Developer Group communities in Ukraine.

    school girls said that they love math. Women earn just 18% of undergraduate degrees awarded for computer science. At top research universities, that number is 14%, according to the Anita Borg Institute. In 1985, women earned 37% of computer-science degrees. The number of women in CS peaked in the mid-1980s, and has declined ever since. – In the mid-1980s, women represented 38% of the computing and information technology workforce. – Today it stands at about 25%.

    specialists job openings are expected in US by 2020. • Research shows that diversity leads to better decisions, creativity, performance, innovation. • Allows organizations to better cater to a variety of clients. • A lot of benefits for women (high salaries, possibility of remote job, scholarships, grants). • Diverse minds drive innovation, and that access to resources will help us level the playing field for more great minds to join the technology industry.

    motivate and share technical skills and knowledge about opportunities for women in IT. Our goal — show successful stories for famous girls, encourage them go ahead and improve their skills. Why WTM Ukraine is so active — Ukrainian girls are smart, we have several active groups, strong support of GDGs and a lot of scheduled event.

This connection will facilitate sharing of resources and event collaboration nationally. Additionally, the chapter directory listing is helping other interested women in country learn about the events.

    a female student currently enrolled at a university for the 2014-2015 academic year. • Intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD program at a university for the next academic year • Be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics or a closely related technical field • Maintain a strong academic record • Show leadership abilities Scholarship recipients will receive €7,000 and all recipients will be invited to attend our annual Scholarships Retreat in Google Zurich. http://www.google.com/anitaborg
