  1. ADHD Energy Recharge Part 2 - Monthly Cycle Wed, Oct

11, 2023 11:21AM 6:35 SUMMARY KEYWORDS patterns, cycle, hormones, winter, follicular phase, talk, estrogen, summer, fit, adhd, cuellar, dive, fall, day, symptoms, thinking, regular, springtime, people, note SPEAKERS Patricia Sung Patricia Sung 00:01 So as we're looking into these patterns, we're going to look at a couple of different ones, we're going to look at monthly patterns, we're going to look at weekly patterns, we're looking at daily patterns. And so just know like we're going to, we're going to cover a plethora of patterns compared to time and yeah. So I'll measure that. Okay. So the first part is when we talk about our hormones. Now, I am not a cycle thinking expert, nor do I pretend to that I am, I do use cycle thinking for myself. And we're going to cover like, a super high overview. So you can kind of get a like a basic understanding of how things function. And I'm going to talk more about like how I use that information. If you want information about cycle thinking in these notes, and like what we talked about last time is there's a whole bunch of resources there that dive more into, like if you really want to get into understanding cycle thinking, understanding hormones, like there's a doctor interview about like women hormones with ADHD, like, all those resources are in these slides that you'll get later. You can go back in and listen to those episodes and read those blocks. So those are here, if you want them. The basic overview that I'm going to give you is looking at the basic patterns and what I do in those times so that you can start thinking about how those patterns fit you. And what then you would apply those patterns to the tasks that you're getting done. So if you want to say like everybody's different, some of us don't have a super regular cycle. Some people don't do like it doesn't like traditionally follow like, what you would expect for like, a few days before your cycle that's different for you than other people. The point of this workshop is for you to look at your patterns, not everybody else's, and fit your life to you. So you aren't necessarily going to do exactly the things that everybody else does, because some of them don't fit me. But I'm going to give you like the basic overview. And like on the note, like if you don't have a regular cycle, that's okay. Like when it comes to cycle thinking. Again, I'm not a cycle thinking expert, what I want you to look at is like the overall patterns, so that you can start to understand your body better, because we just in general, we don't know much about our bodies, like we literally walk around with this bag of skin and bones and muscle for decades. And we don't fully understand how they work. And what I want you to do is be able to like tune into you and start to notice the things that matter for you. So even if you don't have a regular cycle, you'll start to see some patterns that are appearing like if you're already leaning in towards like perimenopause or menopause, you're you're you're shifting as well, it's still gonna fall in some of these different categories that we talk about. It may not follow the same timeline, but still it will be the same like pile of symptoms or flags or whatever.
  2. Like you may just be hanging out in a more

like full like stage for a longer period of time than other people are who have a regular cycle. So don't like throw it all out, you know the baby with the bathwater. We still want to be tracking your patterns, no matter how much you can rely on the regular pneus of your cycle and hormones. The things that we're looking for in these patterns is what do you want to do? And what do you not want to do? Because we want to spend the time when you're feeling the energy of doing the things that sound good capitalizing on that and doing those things. And the times were like, I do not want to do that. It's not fighting ourselves and trying to push through things that don't fit us when we don't have to. Sure there are some times as moms, we just have to do things because that's we got humans to take care of. But as much as we can fit our patterns to the overall plan will make us will make our lives just feel easier. So this little chart here, graphic picture from the flux company, which is one of my favorite period products if you're interested. But I just want to do like a really quick overview of the different seasons. And then we'll dive into like, what does that mean for me, what am I How am I using that in my life. So we start out with winter, which is when you are menstruating, that's the day one of your cycle, then it goes into Bowser. And that's like the winter time. So if you think about seasons, that's the analogy I'm going to be using to help you think about like, how do you feel in the winter? What are the things you would do in the winter or things that you are not going to do in the winter? Like we are not planting plants in the winter? That's not a good idea. So like that would be in like a bad match. That doesn't make sense. And then we've got into the spring, which is your follicular phase which need to change right use it and see better. So 20 ready? Oh my good Lord can see a lot of things. Okay. I mean, not that I'd hope I'm not getting old. I'm getting old. I'm hoping my vision is not going to be writing. Okay, it's bigger magazine. Okay, so then we move into the follicular phase fill the Cuellar phase which is more like spring so you think about what you like to do in the springtime what you would or would not do in the springtime then we hit in the middle is ovulation and that dives into the summer time. Now an important hormone of note here is the estrogen is that generally speaking, when we have more estrogen our ADHD tends to be more amenable, happier, more cooperative. And then here at ovulation, nosedives down some people find that summer is a really energizing time for them personally I do not this tank right here really is a rough day for me do not like that day, say about one second. And then in summer is more like when we're feeling more sociable. So if you think about what are the things you like to do this summer, what are the things you don't like to do in the summer and then we go into the luteal phase which is more like fall. So we circle back and then head back into winter again. This is where estrogen is less and then this fall right here is where a lot of us will struggle with PMDD and rough like PMS just like symptoms and all that stuff, um, is during this fall of the estrogen and it was a cool listen to the episode was Dr. Martell we talked more about that
