How to ınstall Ubuntu Server on vırtualbox? Assoc. Prof. Talha
Kabakus Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Duzce University
Go to ubuntu.com AND clıck the menu “download”, Then Click
“Get Ubuntu Server”
Select “Optıon 2 - Manual server installation”
Clıck “Download Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS” Button
Download of the Image (.iso) Should Start Quickly...
Go to virtualbox.org AND clıck the menu “downloads”. Download the
package of your Operating System and Install.
Open VirtualBox and Clıck “New” Button to Create a New
VM
Select “Linux” as the type of the VM, and “Ubuntu
(64-bit)” as the version of the Vm. Give a name of your Choice.
Set The Amount of Memory of the Vm
Create A Hard Disk for the VM - You Can
Choose “Create a virtual hard disk now” optıon
Choose “VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image)” as hard dısk file type
Choose “Dynamically allocated” as the Storage Option
Set the Dısk Size Accordıng To Your Need and Clıck
“Create”
Now We Are Ready To Install ubuntu on VM. Click
“Settings” Button
Clıck the Storage Menu, then Select the Empty Entry of
Controller: IDE Item. Choose the Downloaded .ıso as the Dısk Fıle 1 2
Clıck “Start” to Start the VM
Choose Language of Your Preference
Select “Install Ubuntu Server”
Once Again, Select Language of Your Preference
Select “Identify keyboard”, Then Type the Asked Keys. Ubuntu Will
Automatically Identify Your Keyboard Layout.
Ubuntu Will Automatically Detect Your Keyboard Layout. Click “Ok” to
Contınue
Ubuntu Will Automatically Identify Your NetWork Connection. Clıck “Done”
Proxy Configuration - Leave It Blank If You Do Not
Have
Mirror Selection - Click “Done” to Contınue Installation
We Will Use Entıre Dısk - Select “Done”
Once Agaın, Select “Done”
Create Your Local User On Ubuntu Server
Select “Done” to Contınue Installation
Check “Install OpenSSH server” by Pressing Space, Then Click “Done”
Select The Packages You Need Or Clıck “Done” to Continue
Installation Will Take Some Time...
Installation Completed! Close The VM by Clicking “X” and Select
“Power off the machine”
Click “Start” to Restart the VM
Enter Your User Credentials to Login
Ubuntu Server is Ready!
