  1. Describe the relationship between the camera and reflected light patterns.

Choose the correct shutter speed for the different frames per second options. Create an exemplification of the persistence of vision concept. © 2021 Copyright Troy Tarpley 2
  2. Imperfect Imitation • A camera is an imperfect imitation of

the human eye. • A camera sees by means of a lens which gathers reflected light. © 2021 Copyright Troy Tarpley 4
  3. Film • The camera lens directs the pattern of light

into a number of sensitive surfaces. • Still photography recorded light patterns on light-sensitive film. © 2021 Copyright Troy Tarpley 6
  4. Convex Lenses • Both the eye lens and camera lens

turn light patterns upside down. 8 © 2021 Copyright Troy Tarpley
  5. Movie Camera • Take images at a faster speed and

more often. • When the number of frames recorded per second are projected at the same rate it gives the illusion of continuous movement. • The brain fills in the gaps between the frames. • Persistence of vision. 11 © 2021 Copyright Troy Tarpley
  6. Sensor • In digital cameras image sensor are either charge

coupled device (CCD) or complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS). 13 © 2021 Copyright Troy Tarpley
  7. Viewfinder to TV • The process is then reversed to

recreate the original image. • Persistence of vision causes the viewer to perceive the frames as continuous movement. 15 © 2021 Copyright Troy Tarpley
