Introduction to Off-Site SEO and Backlink Principles#01

I've found that when doing off-site promotion, there are actually many methods and techniques that can be used. Every person and every company has their own preferred strategies. However, if you observe carefully, you'll notice that these promotion methods often follow certain patterns. If you summarize them thoroughly, you'll find that all these techniques adhere to specific principles. So today, I'll summarize the methods and principles of backlink promotion, hoping it will be helpful to everyone.

We know that from a broad perspective, SEO can be divided into on-site optimization and off-site promotion.

On-site optimization, broadly speaking, can be further divided into website structure optimization and page optimization. When we talk about off-site SEO promotion, the focus is primarily on backlink building.

Website structure is a relatively large topic and is beyond the scope of today's discussion. Today, we are discussing the principles and key points of backlink promotion.

Many factors influence a website's ranking in SEO, but undoubtedly, backlink building still plays a crucial role.

In the past, we've discussed many backlink promotion methods. However, I realized while writing about each technique that many underlying principles are very similar and can be applied interchangeably. Therefore, today I will simply outline these principles to facilitate understanding.

Have you noticed that in backlink promotion, what you need to do essentially boils down to four aspects?

Learn to find resources.
After finding resources, you need to filter and select the good ones.
Warm-up (You might need to make an initial impression first).
Communicate via email.

To give everyone a deeper understanding of these four points, I will elaborate on each one in detail below!

First, what principles and key points should backlink promotion adhere to?

We know that when you do off-site promotion for your website, you can't just randomly pick any website to promote on. It needs to meet certain relevant standards. It's like someone getting married; they likely have standards and can't just marry any man they find, right?

The same principle applies to backlink promotion in website building!

Backlinks need to satisfy the following two points:

Relevance: Your link should not be placed on websites unrelated to your own. For example, if I sell herbal tea, like the kind of Vital Tea, I shouldn't promote it on an automotive website. Your product needs to be related to the channel you're promoting on.
Reputation/Authority: Simply put, the website should have a certain amount of traffic and users and be relatively well-known in the industry. Such websites generally have higher authority (weight).

Therefore, you should adhere to these standards as much as possible when building backlinks, as this will be very beneficial for your website.

We'll talk about the rest later.
