two main challenges regarding exam integrity in the online assessment environment 1. Ensuring a student’s presence during an online exam 2. Ensuring that the student is not receiving outside help during the exam
start of every exam When a student logs in to Voice Proctor they are shown a list of available exams as well as scheduled exam (this can be customized with integration with a school’s LMS)
start of every exam The phone system will instruct the student to enter a randomly generated numeric code in to their computer. This ensures that the student on the phone is the same student in front of the computer.
start of every exam The student is then instructed to read a passage while being recorded over the phone. This recording will be compared to a voice print that was submitted by the student when they initially registered for the Voice Proctor system
start of every exam 1. The entire process takes less than 90 seconds 2. All students need is computer (or any web enabled device) and a phone 3. No additional hardware necessary 4. No cumbersome ID verification questions 5. No additional software needed 6. Voice matching can be done by Voice Proctor or by the school
during the exam Voice Proctor can randomly call students during an exam and ask them to verbally explain/justify a previously submitted answer. If a student has not don the work they will not be able to verbally answer the question. Since these call are random and the student never knows when they are coming, the entire exam is taken in a proctored environment. (It is up to the school to decide how frequent these call will occur.)
during the exam The student explains their answer verbally while being recorded. When they finish, the exam will automatically advance to the next question.
