  1. Description When it comes to grinding, there are two of

the most commonly used methods that are often highlighted and that are Surface grinding and Cylindrical grinding. And there are a few differences between these two processes that make them distinctive. We’ll learn these methods in short and in detail as well. The easiest way to describe the difference between these two methods is the result. The shape of the material. When you use a surface grinding machine the cut is in a flat shape. On the other hand, when you use a cylindrical grinding machine the cut is round.
  2. Let’s further shed some light on these two industrial processes:

Surface Grinding: It is a process used for getting a better and smoother surface finish on the manufactured materials. When different types of materials are manufactured, the result is not consistent. A lot of materials have crooked or inconsistent finishes that can’t be further sent to carry out its next processes. Here’s where Surface grinding comes into the picture. In this method, the use of grinding wheel is made. This wheel acts as a cutting tool removing all the inconsistent surface parts making it smooth and with perfect finishing. To make sure this process is accurate, abrasives are added to the surface and the corners of the wheel. This type of grinding is generally used to grind different forms of tools and cutters and to finish flat surfaces.
  3. Here are a few reasons why industrialists prefer using a

Surface grinding machine: • One can specify the thickness tolerant required • Produces a flat surface with smoother finishing • Performs with quality on metallic and non-metallic surfaces • Convenient to operate with automatic and manual operations
  4. Cylindrical Grinding: This is another type of grinding process. Here,

the process helps you to grind both internal as well as external parts of the material. This method is majorly used for accurate grinding of outer surfaces, conical and outer surfaces. Its application includes processing the shaft equipment used in the machinery of aerospace and military. It has an extremely wide scale of operations. Its applications include manufacturing office applications such as printers, fax machines, and copiers, the textile industry uses such as parts of a yarn machine and fabric holders and also is used across various equipment and machinery in the pharmaceutical industry. While it has numerous applications, the usage differs from industry to industry and material to material.
  5. Here are a few types of cylindrical grinding methods: •

Grinding in tough materials: The materials that are grinded are not the same. Some of them are easy to grind while others are difficult due to their robust and durable properties. Cylindrical grinding machine manufacturers in India prefer using Cylindrical grinding since it helps in finishing even the toughest of the materials.
  6. • Quality of finishing: One of the most imperative benefits

of choosing cylindrical grinding is the quality of its finishing. This method is known to create smooth and consistent finishing on various materials. And materials with superior levels of finishing are always better at performance.
  7. • Convenience of using: Operating cylindrical grinding doesn’t require any

heavy machinery or extremely skilled operators. It’s easy, convenient, and doesn’t put a hole in one’s pocket.
  8. • Productivity: Some of the Cylindrical grinding machines work for

longer hours without any breaks. They are designed in a way that they can operate without facing issues like overheat or breakdown hence they help in enhancing the productivity of industries.
