  3. Central location AID is located in one of the Central

Business Districtsof Bangalore so students have easy accessibility to both it and an array of companies and industries linkedto design around it. Pedagogy AID’s pedagogy is constructivist and experiential, allowing for students to shape themselves as designers of their own choice by being in a learning environment that is a rich mix of theory, practicals using the latest design tools, wide exposure to design environmentsand industry, workshops, seminars, conferences, and events. Hands-onlearning AID’s methodology is heuristic. Design disciplines are understood and mastered through a hands-on approach with students working on conceptual, hypothetical, speculative, collaborative real-life, real-time projects driven by professionals. Hybridfaculty AID’s faculty come from both academia and industry to provide students with a holistic, blended learning experience that is both contemporary and futuristic. Tools andWorkshops AID provides students with cutting-edge digital software and tools, animation and gaming workstations, product design workshops, including 3D printing, so that learning takes places on contemporary platforms. Portfolio building AID students are taught to create professional portfolios to showcase their work as the key to successful careers in industry. Industry connect AID partners with leading companies across the domains of animation, gaming, design, communication andmedia. Alumninetwork AID has a rich cross-section of alumni, who passed out in the ten years of its existence, located in a variety of companies and industries. O U R 1 2 HIS T O R Y AID is a design school offering quality education since 2007. With a decade-long history, it is the continuation, extension and expansion of its precursor, the Asian Institute of Gaming and Animation (AIGA). AIGA was launched in 2007 to create professionals specifically for the animation and game development industries. Initially, AIGA offered a diploma programme in game art and game programming. Later, it added an undergraduate degree programme - BFA in Digital Art and Animation. Over 10 years of AIGA’s existence, hundreds of students have passed through its portals, with most of them absorbed into the digital art, animation and game industries. As rapid changes overtook the design and Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) industries, the demand for students trained in art and design, including animation and gaming, spiralled. AID was created for the larger purpose of providing quality education for students seeking to becomedesign professionals in domains like visual communication, product design, UI/UX and spatial design. AIGA was reorganised to make itself relevant to contemporary times and to create professionals for all the creative industries. Thus, the Asian Institute of Design was born in2017. AID’s vision is to be a holistic art and design institution whose programmes encompass key and emerging disciplines of design while sustaining its programmes in Animation and Gaming. AID offers art and design programmes to aspiring students looking for a greater degree of choice and versatility and seeking to embed themselves into different verticals in the art and design, digital technologies, communication and product development industries. B V A in Multimedia & Animation Design Product Design professionals are the need of the hour in a rapidly industrialising, consumables-driven India. Product designers take up the challenge of designing different types of products as solutions to problems thrown up across every segment of industry, from consumables to heavy engineering. There is a huge gap for product design professionals in India. Employability is extremely high for well- trained product design professionals. Product design is related to key business decisions for companies since it is highly tuned in to user needs and often becomes the branditself. The Bachelor of Visual Arts in Multimedia and Animation Design at AID is designed so that the passionate student can, within four years(8 semesters), be holistically equipped to enterthe 2D and 3D animation industry as a well-trained, creative professional. The student will be exposed to the latest industry requirements, trained in the requisite skills, software, technologies and concepts and be able to tell a story strong in imagination, details and finish. The student will gain a strong foundation in terms of the fundamental design elementsand principles —drawing, sketching, illustration and software skills, the ability to tell a story powerfully in sequential art form (the comic, graphic novel or a simple storyboard) and then animating the story in terms ofcontext, connections, movement, and emotions. Students will become familiar with desktop publishing, vector-based drawing, visual effects, digital print making, digital graphics, 2D and 3D modelling software and animation, video game asset creation and development, interactive media and multimedia on the Internet. 4 y e a r S 7 1 8 1 4 y e a r S

  10. Graphic Design is an aspect of and sometimes synonymous with

the larger design discipline known today as Visual Communication Design. It is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideasand experiences with visual and textual content taking forms that can be physical or virtual. Graphic Design is crucial to communicating in a variety of spheres —commercial, educational, scientific, cultural, or political. Graphic Design professionals can arrange type, forms, illustrations and images across a variety of media, from posters, books and magazines to advertising, packaging, information and data visualisation graphics, branding and identity, motion graphics, way finding and signage, environmental and retail graphics, dynamic displays in public spaces, and UI/UX. User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design makes an interface useful whether on the web, on a computer, tablet or mobile phone screen, or in any interactive product like computerised dashboards ofcars. UI Design requires an understanding of graphic design fundamentals and some knowledge of digital, technological processes. UI makesany interface functional, communicable and aesthetic. UI, which is one layer of the design process, includes a blend of visual hierarchy andinterface elements. UX has to do primarily with research into the experiences users are seeking when dealing with digital interfaces. UX makes UI experiences intuitive and easy for users. UI/UX professionals are constantly working on what separates a great interface from a good interface.
