3. Brief  Explana1on   •  The  future  unreal  condi1onal  is  used  to  talk   about  things  that  probably  will  not  happen  in   the  future.       •  It  is  oGen  used  to  talk  about  dreams,  wants  or   wishes.    
4. Structure  for  the     Future  Unreal  Condi1onal   If  clause   Result  Clause   Example   Simple  Past  Verb   Would  +  Infini1ve   If  I  had  enough  1me,  I  would  drive  to   Las  Vegas  tonight.       Meaning   I  will  not  have  1me,  so  I  will  not  drive  to  Las  Vegas  tonight.  
5. If  I  invited  you  to  the  party,  you  wouldn’t   come.     Meaning   I  will  not  invite  you  to  the  party  because  I  know   you  would  not  come.    (But  I  want  to  invite  you).  
6. If  I  bought  a  1cket,  I  would  go  to  Rome.   Meaning   I  will  not  buy  a  1cket  and  I  will  not  go  to  Rome.      
7. If  I  won  a  million  dollars,  I  would  buy   an  airplane.                                                                                                                                               Meaning   I  will  probably  not  win  a  million  dollars,  so  I   won’t  buy  an  airplane.    
8. Now  you  try!   Meaning   I  don’t  have  a  boat,  so  I  will  not  go  to  Jamaica.   (But  I  want  to  go  to  Jamaica!)  
9. Now  you  try!   Meaning   I  don’t  have  a  boat,  so  I  will  not  go  to  Jamaica.   (But  I  want  to  go  to  Jamaica!)     If  I  had  a  boat,  I  would  go  to  Jamaica.   OR   I  would  go  to  Jamaica  if  I  had  a  boat.  
10. Now  you  try…   Meaning   I  will  not  go  to  London,  so  I  will  not  see  Big  Ben.   (But  I  want  to  see  Big  Ben.)  
11. Now  you  try…   Meaning   I  will  not  go  to  London,  so  I  will  not  see  Big  Ben.   (But  I  want  to  see  Big  Ben.)     If  I  went  to  London,  I  would  see  Big  Ben.   OR   I  would  see  Big  Ben  if  I  went  to  London.  
12. Now  you  try…   Meaning   I  will  not  visit  Los  Angeles,  so  I  will  not  meet   celebri1es.       (But  I  want  to!)  
13. Now  you  try…   Meaning   I  will  not  visit  Los  Angeles,  so  I  will  not  meet   celebri1es.  (But  I  want  to!)     If  I  visited  Los  Angeles,  I  would  meet  celebri1es.   OR   I  would  meet  celebri1es  if  I  visited  Los  Angeles.
