  2. Every parent would love to get their child involved in

an activity that not only keeps them busy, but will also help them learn something that will be helpful in life. Many are seen searching for an activity that will keep their child occupied and busy with something that will teach them something other than the regular studies and something that they love doing. If you are a parent, and would like your child to attend some extracurricular activities after school, there are number of options that you can select from. Children usually love performing activities such as dancing, singing, gymnastics, outdoor games and martial arts. The other forms help in making a child more active and polish the inner talent that a child may already have. Martial arts is one art form that helps to increase the flexibility, strength, speed, concentration and also teaches techniques that will help the child in self defense. Thus, martial arts can be a good option for your kids to learn. But, is your child really interested in learning it? What is the form that may best suit your child? All these questions are common among parents who want their child to learn this form of art. Let us take a look at each of them. Does your child really want to learn Martial Arts? When you are thinking of sending your child to get trained in a particular art form, it is very important to know whether he or she is really interested in it. There won’t be any major benefits obtained, if the child is forced to learn something for which he may be least interested. So, make sure you know what he or she really wants to learn and would love doing. Find out whether your child is loves watching movies that are based on martial arts. It is okay to check even if it is a cartoon. If he loves watching others perform those moves, he would love them too. Try to identify the form that he would love to learn.
  3. Which form can you choose? Martial art has a number

of forms that one can choose from. One can think of the form that will best suit his child. All you need to consider is your child’s age. Each seems to be similar to the other but differs a bit in the way they are performed. While Judo includes a lot throwing, locking and pinning to the ground, Karate and Taekwondo involves striking and blocking techniques. You need to think of what suits your child best. If your child is claustrophobic, it is clear that Judo is not the perfect choice for him. Instead, Karate or taekwondo will be a better choice. When is your child ready for the training? Usually martial arts academies begin admission for students who are above the age of 8 or 10 years. But, you can always think of sending them for such training at their earlier age. If your child is good enough to follow quick instructions and does not mind performing the same activity for an hour, it is the right age for him to go ahead and learn these forms. What are the safety concerns that a parent should think about? Martial arts were basically developed as techniques that can be used for self defense. But, it is important to know that while your child is learning the basic techniques, there are chances of injury. But, these minor injuries will help your child develop the strength to avoid many dangerous situations in life. The techniques of self defense, when taught will help build some self confidence that will make him feel stronger from within. The types of injury that may occur are bruises, scratches, neck or face injuries. Once your child learns how to defend himself, these risks will no longer exist.
  4. What is the best way to select a Martial Arts

Academy? The most important thing that a parent has to think about is the place where his child will be learning this art. The most important thing that you will have to consider is the location. Try searching for an academy that is close to your home. This will save the time that your child will spend in traveling and also prevent him from being exhausted. Another important thing that you have to consider is how goods are the instructors. The instructors have to be good enough with themselves participating in various tournaments. The other most important thing that a parent has to consider is the environment in the academy. When a child is in his growing years, he hardly can distinguish between good or bad and starts imitating all the things around him. The environment at the academy should be disciplined and friendly enough for your child to feel secure and comfortable. Keeping in mind these important points will help a parent know whether the child is really interested in what you want him to do. It will help you select the right form of martial art and also the environment you would want him to grow in. Since he is still in his learning stage, you surely need to pay utmost attention to all of these factors so that you help your child to move on the right track.
