Install the retainer, the ring, and the spiral lockring in the final drive. 7. Install cover (2), bolts (4), and bolts (3) .

    from the final drive planetary carrier. 9. Install Tooling (F) onto the final drive. Remove the remainder of bolts (11) . Illustration 8 g00836732 NOTICE Ensure that the short support of tooling (B) is on the bottom and the long support is on the top when distances (M) and (N) are made.
  7. 10. Adjust the bolts on Tooling (B) so Distance (M)

    is 65.0 mm (2.56 inch) and Distance (N) is 55.0 mm (2.17 inch). Illustration 9 g00836740 11. Install Tooling (B) on final drive planetary carrier (12). The weight of final drive planetary carrier (12) is approximately 405 kg (893 lb). 12. Remove Tooling (F) and remove final drive planetary carrier (12) from the machine. Illustration 10 g00836741 13. Remove sun gear (13) from the planetary carriers. Note: If it is necessary to disassemble the planetary carriers, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Disassemble".

    in position to hold the hub and the ring gear in place when the retainer is removed. 14. Install Tooling (C) under the final drive hub in order to hold the hub in position when the retainer is removed. 15. Lubricate the lip of the seal with the lubricant that is being sealed. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities" for the appropriate oil. 2. Use Tooling (E) to install lip seal (17) to the final drive hub. 3. Install pins (16) in the holes in the hub.

    press to install the ring in retainer (15) . Illustration 17 g00836805 5. Position retainer (15) on the hub. Note: There must be metal-to-metal contact between the hub and retainer (15) . 6. Install bolts (14). Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 135 ± 15 N·m (100 ± 11 lb ft). 7. Verify that there is still metal-to-metal contact between the hub and the retainer.

    from the final drive. Illustration 19 g00836741 Note: If the planetary carriers were disassembled, refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Assemble" section of this publication for additional information. 9. Position sun gear (13) in the planetary carrier.

    (12). Install the O-ring seal on the planetary carrier. 11. Align the gears in the planetary carrier with the gear in the final drive. Position the planetary carrier in the final drive. 12. Install Tooling (F). These bolts hold the planetary carrier in position when Tooling (B) is removed. 13. Remove Tooling (B) from the planetary carrier. Illustration 21 g00836719 14. Install bolts (11). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 700 ± 90 N·m (520 ± 65 lb ft). 15. Remove Tooling (F) . 16. Install the remaining bolts (11). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 700 ± 90 N·m (520 ± 65 lb ft). Illustration 22 g00836641 17. Remove bolts (3), bolts (4), and cover (2) from the final drive.
  14. 18. Remove the spiral ring, the ring, and the retainer.

Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive Planetary Carrier (In Chassis) - Remove". Illustration 1 g01113765 Note: Make sure that the short support arm of Tooling (A) is on the bottom and make sure that the long support arm of Tooling (A) is on the top, when Distance (M) and Distance (N) are adjusted. 1. Drain the oil from the final drive into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive Oil - Change". 2. Adjust the bolts on Tooling (A) . Distance (M) is 75.000 mm (2.9527 inch) and Distance (N) is 180.000 mm (7.0866 inch).

    segments. Attach Tooling (A) to the final drive. Use a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to support the final drive. Adjust the bolts on Tooling (A) until the bolts are against the final drive hub. 4. Remove bolts (1) that hold the final drive and the steering clutch and brake to the frame. Note: Leave three bolts (1) evenly spaced on the final drive. Note: Do not remove three bolts (2) that hold the steering clutch and brake to the frame. Illustration 3 g00840533 5. Remove three bolts (3) that hold the final drive and the steering clutch and brake together. 6. Remove three remaining bolts (1) . 7. Remove final drive (4) from the machine. The weight of final drive (4) is approximately 1070 kg (2360 lb).

    brake housing. Installation Procedure 1. Install final drive (4) in the reverse order of removal. a. If using bolts 1D-4640, tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 1150 ± 150 N·m (848 ± 111 lb ft). If using bolts 6C-3214, tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 800 ± 80 N·m (590 ± 59 lb ft). Then tighten bolt (1) to an additional turn of 60 ± 5 degrees. Note: Put clean SAE 30W oil in the threads of the bolts for the sprocket segments. Install the bolts and the nuts with the head of the bolts against the final drive. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 870 ± 70 N·m (642 ± 52 lb ft). Tighten the nut by an additional 120 degrees. The final torque must be a minimum of 1500 N·m (1106 lb ft).
