  1. Etchings: Centre for Mathematical Sciences (Cambridge) -I decided to make

two etchings of the Maths Centre in Cambridge, one less complicated than the other. While at the factory, I experimented using different colours on one etching to see how the outcomes differs from each other. The first image to the left is the main building, while the image to the right is the gate house.
  2. ❖ Pencil drawings of buildings which are left uncompleted on

purpose because I wanted to only highlight the key areas by shading them dark and leaving some parts plain. This effect makes the drawing interesting due to the contrast. ❖ Sydney Opera House
  3. Paintings: ❖ On this slide, I did a few paintings

using oil paint and pastel, of buildings that I found interesting and complicated at the same time. I was mainly interested in the function and design of these structures. These buildings were not designed by me but by artists like Frank Gehry, Edward Cullinan and Le Corbusier. ❖ Below are the buildings: Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Kings Cross, Villa Savoy, Walt Disney Concert Hall and Vitra Design Museum.
  4. Mixed Media ❖ To the right are drawings that I

did at GCSE level and early in my A Levels. ❖ I used water color with pen, pastel and oil paint for these drawings. ❖ In the first painting, I was aiming to make the still life as realistic as possible and detailed. I was aiming for the painting to look soft and smooth. ❖ For the second painting I didn’t want the building to stand on its own and I left like the sky was too empty so I thought of the idea to add faces into the sky which I wanted to make sure they blended into, so the first thing you notice is the building then the secret faces in the sky. ❖ For the third painting, I used pastel for the first time and I wanted to create a scattered effect on the skin by mixing different colors together.
  5. Cambridge Photography: ❖ These are pictures that I took myself

in Cambridge. I captured these images at times when I thought the sky looked dramatic and attention-grabbing. The effects in the pictures come after it has rained or the period it begins to get dark. The first picture shows the season called ‘Autumn’ by the state in which the trees look and the leaves all over.
  6. Attempts at making a building model: In this slide I

made an attempt to construct a building using paper and a glue. I had the idea of making an Organic Building.
  7. Plant Forms: ❖ These are drawings that I made using

color pencils and pencils, while practicing to draw plants in details. All these drawings are under the topic organic, which will eventually lead to my own personal design of an Organic Building. I started off by looking into plants forms.
  8. Tracings ❖ I made detailed tracings below on a tracing

paper, which would help lead to the development of my Organic Building. I am using the idea of the shapes I get from the shells or plants to help develop my own personal design. ❖ At the bottom left of the image page, I have an enlarged image of a microorganism, which I designed a building from.
  9. ❖ In this slide, I attempted sketching some shell inspired

buildings, with the spiral of the shell my primary focus. While focusing on the shape of the shell, I had a little look into the Fibonacci Sequence because they both have a link in terms of the spiral pattern.
  10. Sketches ❖ I drew the building to the right from

direct observation using chalk. ❖ Below shows the development from a plant to a building design I created. Also at the bottom right, I tried designing a building that was from the previous tracings I did.
  11. -These buildings are influenced by the Eden Project and by

an architect called Buckminster Fuller who designed Silicon Valley. My whole aim is to come up with a building design which is Organic (blends and fits in with nature). I also designed some huts that would replace the buildings in the drawing. While experimenting I decided to add some real plants to my work, to give it a more realistic look.
  12. Below shows the stages I went through before I finally

created my website: (Online Sketch Book)
  13. ❖ This page shows why I decided to pick this

layout and why I placed everything where I did…
  14. ❖ In this slide, you see the process in which

it took me to create the other slides for my website:
  15. ❖ In this slide, I was given a task by

my graphics teacher to design a music cover for a song that he picked for me. ❖ I designed this cover based on the emotions and ideas that first came to my head when I heard the song. I made some sketches initially when listening to the song, then picked one that I would design as my final outcome: Final Design
