3. T W E N T Y 3 They are made of metal and are comprised of two parts: the grooved tack section that pushes up through the denim and the top button that is then hammered on to the tack. The majority of jeans have a zipper fly with a stud button at the top to secure the pants. ! The components can have different finishes. TACK BUTTON
4. T W E N T Y 4 A metal accessory that is used for reinforcement of stress points. Washing and wear will cause holes by the pocket. ! Originally in copper and hidden under the pocket corners. They can be ornamental with different finishes. RIVETS

7. T W E N T Y 7 The fifth pocket, also called watch pocket. ! Strictly functional, it sits inside the right front pocket and justifies the term five-pocket jeans. ! It can also be reinforced with bartacks. ! COIN POCKET
8. T W E N T Y 8 A sewing procedure that reinforces stress points on jeans- usually found near the crotch and pocket openings that require extra reinforcement due to wear. ! BARTACK
9. T W E N T Y 9 Belt loops were first added to the waistband to allow a belt to be worn without suspenders. It can be decorated with stitching and angled. BELT LOOP
10. T W E N T Y 10 SEAM Seam: The joining where two or more layers of fabric are held together with stitches. ! Outer seam: (right) runs vertically down the side of a garment. ! Inseam: (left) the seam that binds the length of the inner trouser leg. The inseam length determines the length of the inner pant leg to appropriately fit the wearer.
11. T W E N T Y 11 Exterior Cord stitch: stitching that runs from waistband to hip, helps lay denim along the body Interior SEAM Busted seam: a seam that is sewn and then pressed flat after seaming Cover stitch seam: sews over the edge of one or two pieces of cloth for edging, hemming or seaming
12. T W E N T Y 12 The length of the fabric in between your waistband and the inseam of your jeans. RISE Back Rise Back side below the waistband to the crotch Front Rise Front side below the waist band to the crotch
