3. A c c e l e r at i n g s c i e n c e Pangeo’s Goals: ➡Foster collaboration around the open source scientific python ecosystem for geociences. ➡Support the development of domain-specific packages. ➡Improve scalability of these tools to handle petabyte-scale datasets on HPC and cloud platforms. !3
4. A c c e l e r at i n g s c i e n c e Activity: ➡What are the things that slow down science? ➡Use the whiteboard to jot down choke points in real world science applications. !4

Pa n g e o t h i s y e a r • Focus on cloud ready data (zarr, netCDF, COGs, and more) and data cloud archives • Contributions to many upstream projects (Xarray, Jupyter, Dask, GDAL, etc.) • Lots of improvements to the Pangeo Cloud experience (Binderhub, pangeo-cloud-federation, etc.) • Community events (Europe, Australia, AGU, SciPy, Hackweeks, etc) • Formalized governance and steering council !5
