  1. How to Play Pitch: A Beginner's Guide to 4-Point Pitch

(High, Low, Jack, Game) Pitch is a trick-taking card game for 4 players in 2 teams of partners. Each hand awards up to 4 points: High, Low, Jack, and Game. The first team to 11 wins. This guide covers the version taught at https://www.learntoplaypitch.com, a free trainer where you practice hands against the computer. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 1/10
  2. Why This Guide Exists My girlfriend (now my fiancée) was

the only one in our friend group who didn't know Pitch. Every game night she sat out. So I vibe coded a site that teaches the game one hand at a time. She learned it, joined the table, and now she bids against all of us. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 2/10
  3. The Deal 4 players, 2 teams. Partners sit across from

each other. Use a standard 52-card deck. The dealer gives each player 6 cards. The deal passes to the left after every hand. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 3/10
  4. Bidding Starting left of the dealer, each player bids once

or passes. Bids run from 2 to 4: the number of points you expect your team to take this hand. Each bid must beat the one before it. If all three other players pass, the dealer must bid at least 2. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 4/10
  5. Pitching Trump The winning bidder leads the first card. That

lead is the "pitch." The suit of that card becomes trump for the whole hand. Pitch from strength: lead a high trump you hold, ideally the Ace. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 5/10
  6. Trick Play Play goes clockwise, one card per player. The

highest trump wins the trick. With no trump in it, the highest card of the suit led wins. The trick winner leads the next one. Play continues until all 6 cards are gone. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 6/10
  7. The 4 Points Point High Low Jack Game What earns

it The highest trump played. It goes to the team that was dealt it. The lowest trump played. It goes to the team that wins the trick containing it. The Jack of trump. It goes to the team that wins the trick containing it. The team whose captured cards total the most: A=4, K=3, Q=2, J=1, 10=10. If nobody holds the Jack of trump, that point is not awarded. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 7/10
  8. Scoring, Set-Back, and Winning Make your bid: your team scores

every point it took. Miss your bid: you are "set back" and lose the bid amount from your score. Scores can go negative. The other team always keeps the points it took. First team to 11 points wins. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 8/10
  9. Beginner Tips and FAQ Tips Bid 2 with an Ace

of a suit plus one more trump. Save 3 and 4 for hands with the Jack or a long trump suit. Tens are worth 10 toward Game. Win the tricks they fall in. Protect your partner's Low and Jack by taking tricks with high trump. FAQ How many players? Four, in two partnerships. What does "set back" mean? Your team failed its bid and subtracts the bid from its score. Where can I practice? Play free hands against the computer at https://www.learntoplaypitch.com. https://www.learntoplaypitch.com · 9/10
