  1. the future horizon Advanced web and application development will be

democratized over next 3-7 years Adaptive, responsive & intelligent interfaces will become increasingly simple to develop Developers and designers will create advanced interfaces to access, create, navigate and explore data, information, knowledge and content ADAPTIVE & AMBIENTLY INTELLIGENT INTERFACES, BUILT ON COGNITIVE COMPUTING SYSTEMS
  2. how do we fit? collaborative + cloud hosted + visual

development environment It is an open-source toolkit for web developers and designers that uses a graph interface and real-time collaboration spaces to makes it easier to design, prototype, develop and deploy web and mobile interfaces. Design Prototype Develop Invent VEQTOR.CC is a
  3. how does it do that? Veqtor.cc is built to be

Flexible Model, prototype and develop apps by creating graphs on the interface. Collaborative Co-design applications and data in real-time with other users. Real-time audio, video + chat are coming soon. Programmable Uses the latest in OS web technologies - accommodates integration of myriad libraries and languages. Pluggable Built to account for a diversity of APIs, engines, and the internet of things.
  4. so what makes it different? Code as data - most

code running veqtor is stored in database (key-value store) - minimal source code acts as backbone Highly expressive - data schemas, types and code can be defined and edited on the interface, on the fly Advanced visual graph creation, navigation, manipulation and analysis capabilities Diverse interaction design can be accommodated through visualization and presentation of data thru myriad interfaces
  5. The graph architecture of a Veqtor application. Code is stored

within entities stored in the database, accessible via the realtime collaborative interface. what does it look like? use case #1 - Qualia
  6. The finished mobile app, represented by the graph architecture on

the previous slide. The data model, code that runs the app and data created in the app are stored within Veqtor. what does it look like? use case #1 - Qualia
  7. Using the Google Maps API, we were able to place

our data and presentation on a geographic map. On the left, app and on the right, architecture. what does it look like? use case #2 - Geomap
  8. Prototype interface and user flows for application models & data

schemas Collaboratively code & deploy applications in real-time Designers Developers Design Thinking & Group Facilitation Services We work with service partners who use our technologies to complement the traditional physical workshops that characterize social and corporate innovation. who is using it now?
  9. Opportunities exist for businesses to be built on top of

Veqtor that provide a wide variety of products + services. Services Number of users Configuration & customization Knowledge Collaboration & Social Business Software Mobile consumer applications Custom Analytics Dashboards pricing based on: Mass stakeholder engagement, idea generation and evaluation Curriculum, learning tracking and hyperlearning through collaborative knowledge generation Government Education Next-gen content management and authoring system for rich media hypernarratives Media Data integration, dashboard configuration, advanced analytics and interfaces Brands & Agencies applications & verticals: how can it be applied?
  10. We’re happy to count the following organizations as our partners:

Felt Lab @ REAP Provide office space, and access to large-scale interactive display tech for prototyping & experimentation Learn Do Share Uses Veqtor.cc as a tool for co- design workshops on social innovation University of Waterloo Provides our team with initial grant funding and commercialization support what are your affiliations?
  11. We build Veqtor on top of these proven, scalable &

open source web technologies: JSON-LD WEBSOCKET what’s it made with?
  12. distributed, scalable, secure & robust p2p infrastructure diversity of devices

& languages attribution, licensing & permissions emergent marketplace of commons-based peer production where is this going?
  13. Peer-to-peer full-stack visual programming with Node.js A visual tool from

IBM for wiring the Internet of Things NoFlo.js Node Red A visual environment for gathering, shaping, and sharing data Quadrigram The following projects are leaders in the field of visual interfaces for working with data and code. who thinks alike?
  14. We are focusing our development on the core features of

Veqtor.cc that will enable us to scale testing and participation in the project. These include: ❖ rich media content & display ❖ process design for structured input / nav ❖ myriad visualization modules ❖ graph / grid / list / geomap interface ❖ search & filtering ❖ synchronized coding & editing ❖ fine-grained permissions & licensing where is it at now?
  15. We are currently invite-only and are taking on beta testers

on a case by case basis, in small cohorts, while we develop the core functionality and stress test the development environment. We invite experienced developers with varying expertise to help inform core development. One interface that is ‘powered by Veqtor’ is Metamaps.cc, a specific instance of the technology, for use as a sensemaking tool. (see Introduction to Metamaps.cc) Customization, servicing and hosting of Veqtor is offered through Treeship Inc. (see Introduction to Treeship Inc). how can you get involved?
  16. Veqtor.cc emerged during the development of Metamaps.cc, by an informal

group comprised of designers, developers, systems thinkers and storytellers, passionate about the Commons, P2P systems, activism, storytelling and collaborative sensemaking, who all gathered around a common values to share a vision of an open platform that all felt was the missing link in their networks and communities. Participants in the Veqtor.cc project are affiliates within the Metamaps Open Value Network, a model and infrastructure for open enterprise using commons-based peer production - collaboratively developed with the Sensorica OVN, the P2P Foundation and other groups. who are we?
