  2. Pain Points About Waste • Waterfall Model • Agile Model

    • DevOps Evolution of Software Dev. 01 02 • Life Cycle • How it Works • Use Case • Benefits • Conclusion DevOps 03 04 Table of Content
  3. Pain Points System go offline, Repeated instance, slow recovery :

low faith in IT Serious Outages Lengthy Projects, Infrequent(large batches), no experimentation, LOB’s elsewhere for innovation. No increment value “Us v/s Them“ little transparency, I.T. teams own incentives, lack of customer focus, losing talented people Excessive Infighting 01 02 03
  4. Anything that take time but don’t add value. Disrupting flow

and absorption of knowledge Knowledge Waste Not aware of requirements Over Processing waste Uneven processing Waiting waste Unnecessary movement, physically rearrange or update tech. Motion waste Unnecessary production, done to keep staff and machine busy Over-Production Waste Piling and not realizing value, bunches hidden problems. Inventory waste About Waste
  5. Devops!! DevOps is a set of practices that combines software

development (Dev) and information-technology operations (Ops) and provide continuous delivery with high software quality.
  6. Collaboration Shared Purpose / work together. Transparency. Empowerment Collaboration extends

Between not only in Dev and Ops, but all teams, including test, product management, and executives How DevOps Work: 01 Get things done more Rapidly, effectively, efficiently.
  7. Automation DevOps relies heavily on automation You need tools. -

Build, buy. DevOps relies on toolchains to automate large parts of the end-to-end software development and deployment process. It’s true that DevOps relies on tools, DevOps is much more than that. DevOps 02
  8. Continuous Development Involves ‘planning‘ and ‘coding‘ of the software. Vision

decided during the planning phase and the developers begin coding part.. No DevOps tools for planning, a number of tools for maintaining the code. Tool used: Git; Also tools like Ant, Maven, Gradle used for building/ packaging the code into an executable file that can be forwarded to any of the next phases. DevOps 03
  9. Continuous Testing Stage where software is continuously tested for bugs.

Automation testing tools like Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, etc Allow QAs to test multiple code-bases thoroughly in parallel to ensure that there are no flaws Docker - simulate test environment. selenium - automation testing. TestNG - generate reports Jenkins - automate entire testing phase. DevOps 04
  10. Continuous Integration Write code, commit and test. - ready, working

project. Developers require to commit changes to the source code more frequently. Early detection of problems if they are present. Tool used jenkins. DevOps 05
  11. Continuous Deployment In this the code is directly deployed on

the production server for release. People working in microservices believe in CD Ex. Facebook Tool used : Puppet, Chef, SaltStack, and Ansible. DevOps 06
  12. Continuous Monitoring Continuously monitor the performance of your application. Root

cause of any issue is determined. It maintains the security and availability of services. System errors such as low memory, server not reachable, etc are resolved in this phase. Tool used : Splunk, Nagios. DevOps 07
  13. Features released to 500 million users. Heavy Website traffic. Server

Meltdown. Use Case: Mixed responses from users which lead to no conclusion.
  14. 1. 2. 3. The new features are first deployed on

a smaller and specific user base. They are continuously monitored and the feedbacks are continuously developed and tested Once, the features are stable, they are deployed on other user bases in multiple releases. The dark launching technique Post after that they came with this technique.
  15. Regiment processes, automated testing Reduced Defects Manage requirements and code-repository

Shorter Development Cycle Continuous build, push-button deployments Increased Release Velocity Enforces consistency, increase up-time. Environment Stabilization Benefits Track both time at each stage, and the errors and exceptions. Process Metrics
  16. Conclude Devops is a software development approach which involves continuous

Development, Continuous Testing, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Continuous Monitoring throughout its development life cycle. What is DevOps????
