  1. ‘Hackathon’? [...] an event in which computer programmers and others

involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on software projects. Hackathons typically last between a day and a week. Some hackathons are intended simply for educational or social purposes, although in many cases the goal is to create usable software. Hackathons tend to have a specific focus, which can include the programming language used, the operating system, an application, an API, or the subject and the demographic group of the programmers. In other cases, there is no restriction on the type of software being created..
  2. The agreement is simple. • We provide the Food (and

the venue) • You do what you want*
  3. What you want* • You come up with an idea

    • You recruit a like-minded team to make it happen • You decide when & how often you meet • We’ll provide the food (and the venue) • You make your ideas happen
  4. We suggest* you • Set some goals for your Hackathon

    • Set a timescale • Don’t plan everything up front - have some spontaneity • Do something you find enjoyable • Present the results of your Hackathon back to the company
  5. Most of all... We’d love you to develop the next

big thing, or if you built something useful to ‘the company’, but this is more an opportunity for you and your own Continual Professional Development.
