  1. ZERO The first evidence that we have of zero is

    from the Sumerian culture in Mesopotamia 5,000 years ago. Zero was first discovered in inda by the Aryabhata. Before knowing about it mathematicians used to leave the space empty. Today, zero both as a symbol (or numeral) and a concept meaning the absence of any quantity allows us to perform calculus, do complicated equations, and to have invented computers.
  2. SANSKRIT It is known as the mother of all Indo-European

    languages. Official language of uttarakhand. Mattur, a village in karnataka has more than 90%of its population still speaking in sanskrit.
  3. CHESS India , land of thousands of peoples, religions and

    languages. Naturally, India is the land of plenty of Chess. Several forms of Chess have been played in India until very recently and maybe even nowadays. The ancient form is known as chaturanga, and spread to the west via Persia in the 7th Century. From Persia it entered the Islamic world. Chaturanga, from Sanskrit and meaning "four limbs" is the word used for Chess. It refers to the four members of the Indian army; chariots, elephants, cavalry and infantry. India is the cradle of Chess.The pieces are first named in India.
  4. SPICES A spice is a root, bark fruit,or other plant

    substance, primarily used for flavoring, coloring or prevention of food. Spices are mostly used in india cooking. Spices and herbs (e.g., black pepper, cinnamon, turmeric, cardamom) have been used by Indians for thousands of years for both culinary and health purposes. Spices indigenous to India (e.g. cardamom and turmeric) were cultivated as early as the 8th century BC in the gardens of Babylon.
  5. YOGA The term yoga is found in Vedas.which began in

    1500bce. Yoga comes from the sanskrit word yuj, which means tovyoke, join or unite. Workout fads come and go, but virtually no other exercise program is as enduring as yoga. Yoga does more than burn calories and tone muscle. Its total mind body workout that combines strength and stretching posture with deep meditation.
  6. SURGERY Ancient surgical practices included trepanationor drilling through skull vault.

    Practiced either in a living person or dead. In the indian subcontinent, trepanation was known among the bronze age. Sushruta samhita describes the ancient tradition of surgery in indian medicine is considered to be the most advanced compilation of surgical practices of that time.
  7. ASTRONOMY Astronomy in india gives first reference in Rig veda

    which started from 2000bce. Vedic aryans in fact deified the sun, stars and comets. Ancient indias contribution in the field of astronomy are well known and documented. Astronomy was then interwoven with astrology and since then ancient times Indians have invoked the planets with the determination of human fortunes.
  8. CIVILIZATION The oldest civilization is Indus Valley civilization. This civilization

    is known by many names: Ancient India, Indus Valley, and Harappan Civilization. Historians and archeologists believe the Indus Valley Civilization began around 3000 BCE. There is evidence of trade between Ancient India and Mesopotamia as early as 3200 BCE.
  9. AYURVEDA Ayurveda is the system of medicine that evolved in

    India with a rationale logical foundation and it has survived as a distinct entity from remote antiquity to the present day. Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in the Vedic culture of India. Although suppressed during years of foreign occupation, Ayurveda has been enjoying a major resurgence in both its native land and throughout the world. Tibetan medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine both have their roots in Ayurveda.
  10. POPULATION The current population of India is 1,370,699,613 as of

    Wednesday, August 21, 2019. 1 of every 6 people on the planet live in India, and between the 2001 and 2011 censuses, the country grew by 17.7%, adding 181.5 million people. India's largest city is Mumbai, with a population of 12.5 million.
  11. HIGHEST NUMBER OF FILMS Highest number of films is made

    i Bollywood with as many as 1,600 films produced in various languages every year. Indian cinema produces more films watched by more people than any other country in 2011, over 3.5 billion tickets were sold across India, 900,000 more than Hollywood. Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore and Hyderabad are the major centres of film production in India.India has been the largest movie producer worldwide releasing more than a thousand films each year. The country is home of the one of the most important cities in the global film industry, Mumbai.
