DESIGN BASEの掲げるビジョン「DESIGN FORWARD」とは 私たちメンバーにとって、日々の活動の指針であり、 決意の表明であり、原点に回帰させるものです。 この本では、「DESIGN FORWARD」を より身近に感じ、意識に根付いていくように 少し具体的にした言葉をまとめました。 ここに書かれているのはあくまで具体例です。 このほかにも、私たちの行動の中には 大小さまざまな「DESIGN FORWARD」が存在します。 日々の「DESIGN FORWARD」に気づくきっかけとして、 行動するときの指針として、 迷った時のヒントとして、 ときどき見返してみてください。 あなたが自分なりの「My DESIGN FORWARD」を続ける中で この本が少しでも役立ちますように。 Introduction

5. 手を動かす
 Act 1 つくりながら、いいデザインを模索すること。 具体的な形をつくり、他者の想像力を引き出すこと。 考えすぎて悩んだら、行動してみること。 Seek out good design during creation. Create a concrete design that stokes the imagination of others. Don’t overthink, just take action.
6. わかりやすくする
 Make it Accessible 2 複雑な事柄を理解し整理すること。 ぼんやりしたイメージを、具体化すること。 相手の立場に立って、伝わる表現にすること。 Grasp complex matters and make them understandable. Turn vague concepts into something concrete. Put yourself in the other party’s shoes and use expressions that will get the point across.
7. よくするために粘る
 Spare No Effort 3 ほかの可能性を試してみること。 納得できるまでつくりきること。 成果に向き合い何がベストか考え続けること。 Test other possibilities. Keep creating until you are satisfied with the results. Consider the best course of action, keeping the end result in mind.
8. 視点をたくさん持つ
 View From Multiple Angles 4 仲間の気持ちになって考えること。 ユーザーの視点になってデザインをすること。 自分の意思や想いも大切にすること。 Consider the perspective of your peers. Design from the user’s perspective. Value your own intentions and thoughts.
9. 本質を考える
 See the Essence 5 対象を調べ、理解すること。 課題を見つけ、整理すること。 目的を問い続けること。 Research into and fully grasp the subject. Identify and organise any issues. Always question the purpose.
10. 発信する
 Build Narratives 6 考えやコンセプトを他者に伝えること。 デザイナーの力を発揮しやすい環境を自らつくりだすこと。 デザインの価値を届けていくこと。 Communicate ideas and concepts to other people. Create an environment that enables designers to demonstrate their abilities. Convey the true value of design.
11. 学び続ける
 Keep Learning 7 わからないことをそのままにせず、解決する努力をすること。 いろいろなものを見て、触れて、感じて、表現の幅を広げること。 今の自分の領域にこだわらず、新しいことにチャレンジすること。 If you don’t understand something, make an effort to grasp and solve it. See, touch, and feel a range of things to broaden your range of expression. Take on new challenges instead of sticking to your current field.
12. 先を見る
 Look Ahead 8 今の仕事に何が必要か先んじて考えること。 デザインができたときの光景を想像すること。 これからのわたしたちのために行動すること。 Think ahead. Anticipate what needs to be done for the current task. Imagine the completed design and its subsequent impact on others. See your actions as steps towards a better future.
13. デザインを楽しむ
 Enjoy Design 9 気づきを与えてワクワクさせること。 自分自身が夢中になってデザインすること。 デザインで人を笑顔にすること。 Thrill people with new experiences. Fully immerse yourself in the design process. Make joy through design.
