6. Risk Management • Who are you protecting yourself against? – Kids? Neighbor? Police? Government? • Know the tools you use • Stay up-to-date, learn • If you feel you have “nothing to hide”, that's f i ne – (First, you're wrong) – That is a privilege that some people do not have – Everyone has the right to choose what to reveal about themselves

Solutions • Anonymity – Tor: an open network that helps protect from network surveillance and traff i c analysis – VPN / Proxy: tools that enable secure routing of traff i c to another network • Secure Communication – GPG: a set of tools used to encrypt e-mails and documents – OTR: a protocol used to encrypt instant messages • Web Security – Password managers – Ad blockers / malware blockers
