  2. Sign of the Times An intricate assemblage of nearly a

thousand separate custom-designed pieces, each a painted extruded aluminum sleeve a little more than three inches in diameter. The sign is composed of 959 individual pieces.
  3. Saks Fifth Avenue A new identity designed by Pentagram for

iconic New York retailer Saks Fifth Avenue. He took the cursive logo, redrew it, and placed it in a black square. Then, we subdivided that square into a grid of 64 smaller squares.
  4. The Atlantic The nameplate is based on the 18th century

typeface Bodoni, it featured an italic A that was distinctive and perfectly captured the idiosyncratic character of the magazine. The two fonts that were settled on for the cover provided the necessary mix of ingredients: Mercury, an elegant serif typeface, and Titling Gothic, a bold sans serif.
  5. MAD Museum of Arts and Design’s geometric-based mark reflects the

circles and squares present in the building’s shape and its location, on Columbus Circle. He then designed an entire alphabet and numbers made out of squares and circles. It was called MAD Face.
  6. Library Murals The libraries are usually located in older buildings

with high ceilings, but the shelves in the libraries can’t be built higher than kids can reach. This means there is a space between the top shelf and the ceiling, just begging for something special.
  7. Saks Fifth Avenue 49 names of collections and designers were

rendered in Cyrus Highsmith’s Novia and combined to form a number 3.
