    the Scriptures? • Answer: All men are not only permitted, but commanded and exhorted, to read, hear, and understand the Scriptures. • Scripture: John 5:39; Luke 16:29; Acts 8:28-30; 17:11.
  4. Catechism • Question 7: What do the Scriptures mainly teach?

    • Answer: The Scriptures mainly teach what man is to believe about God and what duty God requires of man. • Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16, 17; John 20:31; Acts 24:14; 1 Corinthians 10:11; Ecclesiastes 12:13.

  6. The father and the son: • Q: How would a

    normal father respond in that culture? • Normally – he would have banished the son! • Q: But what did this father do? • He gave it to him! • Realize that it was costly. He probably had to sell off 1/3 of his land…. So it took work even gathering the inheritance. • Q: Why do you think he gave it to his son? • Q: Does God sometimes give us the sinful things we desire – to teach us a lesson? • Ex in my life- Partnership
  7. What happened to the son: First – partied… Q: Does

    sin seem enticing and enjoyable? -Yes – of course – that is why people do it. What does sin always lead to? – Death – destruction… Q: What did sin cause in his life: became poor, friendless…. Horrible position. Q: Are you running from God or only wanting to plunder God’s blessings? Q: What happened to the son?
  8. repentance • When he was at his lowest, what did

    the Son decide to do? • What will it take for you to quit running from God? • If the son had not come back – what would have happened? • If you do not come back to God – what will happen?
  9. Turn to god • Q: Can anyone turn back to

    God? - YES!!! • Q: How do we know? - The father is waiting for the son. • Q: Did the Father just give the son a job in his house? - No – he became a full son again. - Like he was dead – and now alive!
  10. Prayer • Glena - Kenneth’s brother, Keith Marcum, is finishing

    rehab and moving to a halfway house. Please pray his treatment will be successful and he won’t relapse. • Emily Whelchel – Grandmother passed away on Friday. • Liz and Neal, Permastudents – They need to finish studies, etc., and GRADUATE! Liz is burned out royally! Pray for PERSERVERANCE! • Remember Faulkner family – Brock has leukemia and has to stay in Houston for 3 months for treatment. His family is in College Station.

    room. All levels of experience (including NO experience!) are welcome! • ASL Bible Study with Glena Sundays at 3:30 near the worship room. All are welcome and you can start coming anytime.
