F/OSS Sustainability: From Islands to Archipelagos

A brief history of the internet (or at least how we got to the point in which it relies on a few people volunteering in the evenings), how we are currently organising to solve some of the problems of maintaining and sustaining open source software and a prompt to move towards solutions that solve not for individual projects, but the community at large, beginning with the communities that support you.
